http://togethermagazine.org/index.php/Site/landing/the_person_i_thought_i_was_marrying

May 8, 2009 by Nancy Brooks. The Person I Thought I Was Marrying. One afternoon my husband and I were having lunch with an engaged couple. My husband asked the woman, Do you think he’s the same person you’re going to be married to? She lovingly gazed into her fiance’s eyes, and replied in her girly-girl voice, Oh, yes! My husband and I laughed, and then proceeded with story after story of us when we were dating versus now that we’re married. Haven’t you figured out how to do those things for yourself yet?

January 27, 2011 by Emily Johnson. Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails. Sitting atop my son’s dresser is a yellow square plate. This plastic plate contains his treasures: a cicada exoskeleton; a tiny egg carton that once contained dinosaur egg gum; a flat brown seed liberated from a pod; the velvety blue-and-black remains of a butterfly; a pirate spy-glass; a wooden horse colored with markers; and a Lego piece that resembles a light saber. May 27, 2009 by Emily Johnson. I am writing to debrief you on the car trip to Maine—two day’s drive up, two day’s drive back. Let’s call it “To DVD or not to DVD! I married Clark Griswold. So, back to the story. After the first movie is over, I get out the DVD case to find another one, just as Clark surfaces. “You’re putting in another DVD? They’re just going to sit and watch movies all day? 8221; I’m thinking, “Uh, yeah, that’s the plan…” but saying, “what do you want them to do? See the hills, and look!

May 8, 2009 by Emily Johnson. That’s the community I saw growing up. One where people took care of each other, got involved in each other’s lives, and made sure people weren’t lonely or left out. Even if those people were weird or eccentric or from other countries or of different races. We treated each other with kindness and respect and unselfishness. It was beautiful. Specifically), I no longer work at Grasshopper. For those of you who know me, you know this is very much the end of an era / chapter in my life. In fact, working at Grasshopper became a part of who I was. I can’t tell you how many times I was referred to as The Grasshopper Guy , Grasshopper Buzz , or Ambassador of Buzz . At th...

May 4, 2009 by Emily Johnson. Road Trip with Kids. Gone are the days of let’s leave early, drive all day and night, and just stop to eat and pee! With two little ones, we’re about to embark upon the adventure of a two-day drive from our home in Ohio to Portland, Maine. It’s about 15 hours of driving, and that doesn’t include potty breaks, run around at the rest stop breaks, food breaks, and I’m sure a few melt-down breaks. Oh yeah, he’s the pack mule, that’s why…. June 14, 2009 by Emily Johnson. I can’t wait to get married and have kids. Meal times will be so special and wonderful. I’ll cook a nice meal, and they’ll all appreciate that I made it all from scratch with great love and devotion. We’ll use nice manners and talk about our day and bond with each other. It’ll be so special and wonderful. Then I woke up. I feel like the mom on A Christmas Story. It’s a fine line to walk in finessing her to eat. But I won’t give in; they’re going to eat what I made, bec...

Shaping the Nest

Monday, June 22, 2015. The plans for the A Frame coop were from ana-white.com but we modified it a bit. Cam used fence posts for the roof, hardward mesh (as recommended since we live in an area with lots of raccoons), and we put doors only on one side (hers had 4 doors on the top). We tried to use a bunch of scrap wood we had on hand to keep down the cost. We lock each door with a carabiner clip. This also is suppose to help keep racoons out (I heard they can figure out lots of simple locks? We've picked...
