Element II: A Wharram Tiki 26 Catamaran. This journal will detail the building of the Wharram Tiki 26 catamaran, Element II. My choice of design in a voyaging boat to build is the result of 20 years of experience traveling in sea kayaks and small sailboats ranging from a double outrigger canoe to a traditional monohull keelboat. I have built and sailed a Wharram Hitia 17, and restored and sailed the Tiki 21 I named Element. Monday, January 19, 2015. Sailing the Apocalypse: A Misadventure at Sea. And the ...

Thursday, July 18, 2013. Nanook of the Nashwaak, Hal the Gullboy and myself have been talking about running this river for years but it has eluded us with water levels and schedules. This year everything seemed to line up in our favor and we went for it even though the water dropped but then the rain came and it all looked good. Here's my tale of running this river! May 17, 2013. May 18, 2013. Three Boats and Nanook. Just Enough Room for the Skinny Guy. Oh Scooter, look what I found! Loving my new chair!

Scooters Adventures: November 2012
http://scooter-bangortoportland.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 16, 2012. I got a call from my friend who said a canoe had washed up on his landing on the Merrimack River and he didn't have the time or efforts to fix it up so wanted it gone. Did I want it? Well, I am a sucker for this sort of thing and of course said yes! Just what I need, yet another canoe! Speaking of the HIN here is what it looks like and I found it unique! I thought I needed new glasses when I first started looking at it! Ranger Otter, as is right now. It looks like either duct t...

Monday, December 30, 2013. The Adirondack Canoe Rebuild. December 26, 2013. As usual I swore I didn't need another boat to work on and once again swore off Craigslist just like I did the last time when I ended up with the Pamlico Barkolounger! I saw this canoe for sale and hemmed and hawed for a week or so and then made the call. The owner, Don, said that it had gotten blown off it's stand and taken a slide down the hill on his land bouncing off some rock walls on the way down. And what a hill it was!

Sunday, October 14, 2012. October 15, 2012. Why do I keep doing this? Another hull to fix! This time a kayak, I almost feel like it's sacrilege to have it in my shop! But ya know when it's free and almost new then I guess it's ok. This is a Hurricane Kayak which is a Thermomold design. Very light and looks very well built.
