Headquarters for Sail Sand Point's Opti Race Team. The Optimist Dinghy, fondly referred to as the Opti, was designed in 1947 by a man named Clark Mills in Clearwater, Florida. Little could Mills have known that over 60 years later there would be more than 150,000 Optis sailed all around the world. The International Optimist logo that can be seen on nearly all Optimist sails nowadays. LOA (Length Overall): 7′ 9″. LWL (Load Waterline Length): 7′. Beam: 3′ 8″. Hull weight: 77 lbs. Mainsail area: 35 ft.
