Saturday, January 7, 2017. The Long Drive January 7, 2016. On Thursday, January 7, 2016 I hitched a trailer, filled with my "stuff", to my van. And then, somewhere around 10:00 am EST, started the drive from Massachusetts to California. It was a quick ride through Rhode Island and Connecticut. I had an uneventful ride through Oklahoma, but as I drove through the Pan Handle of Texas my low tire light came on. I pulled over and it was freakin' cold! Along Historic Route 66. Entering Arizona I was unsure if...

Sunday, April 24, 2016. The 2016 Boston Marathon. I posted, three weeks ago, the long runs were complete and I was ready for the start line. During that three weeks, I was a bit worried that a) my taper was too long, b) I would not be rested enough, c) it would be too rainy and cold. Well, you get the idea. Checking bags, was doing an efficient job and we moved through the line quickly. Once in, we headed to the bib pick-up area. Also shopping ,. We went over to the Finish area. It was crowded and at...

Saturday, September 12, 2015. Seasons 20K September 6, 2015. I wasn't feelin' the love for another long road race. Especially on a course that promised hills, summer heat, and dreaded humidity. I did sign up for this, running distances from 5K to 42.2K, to enjoy the pleasure of competing. And enjoy it I will! At first glance the field size appeard smaller than other Grand Prix races. I spoke a bit with Phil Savoy and saw a couple of other CMS folk. Next and last stop.the Lone Gull 10K, Gloucester, MA.

I15 in Fallbrook, CA. Along the Avocado Highway. This Cross Country business is quite different from the road racing series. It has taken some time to get trail legs, but I feel stronger. Incident, while I never knew them my Mom was always remembered them to me. Pre-ran the course as my warm-up, starting on w...

Thursday, November 3, 2016. Hill Reps and other Musings November 3, 2016. I was working and in the back of my mind was today's workout. I thought maybe I could run the hill on Mendon Road to Daniels Farm. Then I remembered that I did not live in Blackstone anymore. It happens every now and then, even after 10 months of living in California. Hidden Valley Trail Head. I chose the Los Santos trail for my workout as it had the appropriate ups and was winding, adding a bit of change-up to the session. The 7th...

Monday, April 27, 2015. The USATF Masters 10k Championship April 26, 2015. The James Joyce Ramble. Arrived around 9:30 for bib pickup. It was a clear morning but it appeared that the clouds were rolling in from the east. A short warmup and some strides I met up with Frank Ruggerio and Daniel Verrington for the senior team uniform check. After a few more strides I lined up at the back of the rather small field. I didn't hear the start signal, everyone just started running so off I went. Mile 0.29 1:43.
