Peyt's Island: December 2011
http://peytsisland.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 31, 2011. A Taste of Christmas. After the fantastic Orlando wedding, I took a train (yes, they have passenger trains in America! To West Palm Beach, where my fabulous cousin Erika. Picked me up for that blessed first dinner at Panera and shopping trip to Target, a Guammie dream date if I've ever heard of one. Step one: Add half a pound of lard to four cups of flour. Believe it or not, lard is Paleo approved. As a worthwhile fat). Leave dough in refrigerator overnight so the yeast rises.

Peyt's Island: Hey Soul Sister
http://peytsisland.blogspot.com/2012/05/hey-soul-sister.html
Thursday, May 31, 2012. One of the first days I met April, she handed me a stack of 100 poems she had written that she wanted to publish into a book one day. Spoken word poetry is a gift of hers. Three years later, I spent a summer working to help her edit her poems into one complete volume called Utter Magic. If none of this has convinced you that April is an awesome person to know, then just watch this YouTube video of her dancing on the Ellen Show. Inarajan Pools - April's happy place. We had a blast!

Peyt's Island: October 2012
http://peytsisland.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 26, 2012. Goodbye Peyt's Island. Hello Peyt's Park. I remember so clearly the first post I wrote. I woke up very early one morning in Guam (jet lagged) and sat on the floor in front of the bed in the hotel room while Nick slept. I clicked away energetically typing out the first paragraphs about our first 24 hours. So today, with admittedly far less excitement, I introduce to you Peyt's Park. One last order of duty. saying goodbye. Links to this post. Friday, October 5, 2012. The first par...

Peyt's Island: The lasting gifts of paradise
http://peytsisland.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-lasting-gifts-of-paradise.html
Friday, October 5, 2012. The lasting gifts of paradise. If there's one thing leaving Guam reiterated, it's how much love we received during our time there from our friends and Guam family. We had two really wonderful going away parties, one from our church and one from our friends in the neighborhood. I received two going away presents that were among the most special of my life. I was completely floored. Twice. The first party was a complete surprise! Into two books, actually! They told me the volumes w...

Peyt's Island: August 2010
http://peytsisland.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 31, 2010. So I’ve been wanting to share with all of you what a typical day looks like out here now that Nick has started traveling, but until this past week I didn’t know myself. I will say- -it has been quite fun, and at times exhausting, figuring it out. The first night after Nick left, some of us went out for Karaoke night! This will definitely not be a one-time event. Also in the past two weeks I have tried some new things, such as playing golf with the ladies. Yet another new activit...

One Page to the Next: November 2014
http://onepagetothenext.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
One Page to the Next. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Befriend a turkey and it’s easy to have a totally different perspective. This Thanksgiving, open a copy of Shel Silverstein's Where The Sidewalk Ends. And flip to one of my favorite poems: Point of View. I read a quick blurb about this poem once…. 8221; It works every time. There's always another way to look at things this holiday season. Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless. Christmas dinner's dark and blue. When you stop and try to see it. Is a soc...

One Page to the Next: February 2015
http://onepagetothenext.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
One Page to the Next. Saturday, February 28, 2015. I pre-ordered Ally Carter's new book All Fall Down: An Embassy Row Novel. When it arrived I couldn't remember who had told me to read it. Was it a John Green recommendation? A New York Times favorite? I can't remember. It is the first in a series of YA political thrillers - not usually my style. But I did like it, and I can see teens flocking to the strong-willed, rebellious heroine, Grace. One of my favorite parts of the book:. I say, confused. We do in...
