BECEITE IBEX (Capra Pyrenaica Hispanica). GREDOS IBEX (Capra pyrenaica victoriae). After the Beceite ibex, the Gredos ibex is the largest and darkest in color and has the largest horns. Typically, the horns are lyre-shaped with a pronounced curve and a spiral turn of more than 180 degrees. Horn thickness decreases progressively from the base to the very thin tip. While this is the typical Gredos horn conformation, other horn shapes may be found in this region and even in the same herd.

FALLOW DEER (Dama Dama). The common fallow deer is native to the eastern Mediterranean. It has been introduced in many areas ever since the Neolithic period and it now occurs wild in Europe and elsewhere and in captivity on deer farms around the world. BARBARY SHEEP AOUDAD- (Ammotragus Lervia). Barbary sheep have become common in a limited region of the south-east of Spain, since its introduction in 1970 to Sierra Espuña (Regional Park) as a game species. Its adaptability enabled it to colonise nearby areas quickly, and private game estates provided other centers of dispersion. The species is currently expanding, now being found in the provinces of Alicante, Almeria, Granada and Murcia. October – February. Agencia Estatal de Meteorología.

The coat is not as thick and is somewhat lighter in color. Antlers are not as long or heavy, but are still very fine, sometimes with as many as 18-20 points. September 15th to February 15th.
