A word of caution for anyone wishing to navigate the world of zinfandel. Some Californian zinfandels are made by people who think that sweetness, fruit, and alcohol content are virtues in wine and some of the zinfandels I’ve drank have been labeled with alcohol levels as high as 16.9%. VineStress - A blog about starting a wine label from scratch in Oregon. Wine and Vine News. Thursday, April 12, 2007. Over before it starts. Many growers lost everything. I'm still experimenting at this point. My commercial vines won't get planted until Spring '09. I won't have a crop until '11 or '12. But for those growers for whom this is all they do, it's going to be a tough year. One grower recently said that it's time to start looking to the '08 crop. It'll be a long wait. More info on the cold snap.

VineStress - A blog about starting a wine label from scratch in Oregon. Wine and Vine News. Sunday, June 29, 2008. I'm mapping out a strategy to start blogging again. I imagine this Golden Muscat vine might make frequent cameos as I figure what direction I'm going to go now that I'm vineyard-less. But I'll keep involved in the business and have plenty to write about exploring this region. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wine and Vineyard Links. A Day in the Life of a Missouri Winery. VineStress - A blog about starting a wine label from scratch in Oregon. Wine and Vine News. Sunday, July 22, 2007. The godfather of Missouri vinifera. I spent Saturday at Michael Amigoni's vineyard. In west-central Missouri. Michael is the godfather of Missouri. Michael has had his greatest success in the region with Cabernet Franc. Despite the fact of this year's freeze. Would do well here, but it needs to hang a long time and Franc would have fewer problems with sour rot, bitter rot and ripe rot. U...

VineStress - A blog about starting a wine label from scratch in Oregon. Wine and Vine News. Wednesday, March 17, 2010. This past weekend we screened our short film, " A Country Wedding. So now it's time to think of the next film, which is our wine documentary. The idea is still coalescing. Wine is such a massive topic, that we're going to need to find a narrative thread to follow. I imagine the first year will be spent seeking out the characters we want to follow in order to tell our story.

While it's all well and good to study the experts, often you can learn more from the quixotic fumblings of a pretender. And so, I offer you my latest mishap. We recently purchased a vineyard site. Can be encouraged at certain points during the season, benefiting fruit quality. We've all been cautioned about making assumptions. I trusted th...
