Ruby in the Dust

Monday, March 24, 2014. How to make a kids' travel journal. We're going on a much-anticipated family holiday tomorrow. The four of us are off to South Africa to spend time with my amazing family, most of whom we haven't seen for well over 7 years. Because we'll be away for a few weeks, I wanted the boys to be able to keep a journal so they can remember everything we'll do. I created the pages in Illustrator, using the Langdon font and some free downloads (links at bottom). The boys are very proud of ...

Ruby in the Dust: January 2014

http://rubyinthedustdolls.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 24, 2014. Happy Friday to you! Just before I start the long weekend, I need to tell you about the Lavender Heart Workshop. I'll be teaching next Sunday at Lopdell House. I made the one above as an example of what you can expect. I'll be showing you two types of blanket stitch (I know; I always thought there was only one too! And whipstitch. All materials are included, plus a cup of tea and cake at the end. It forms part of the Lopdell House Make and Cake. Ruby in the Dust. In the mean tim...

Ruby in the Dust: July 2013

http://rubyinthedustdolls.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Well, what a dry month it's been for this poor blog! All I can say is it's been a busy one at home with sick kids, school holidays and life in general. I've had so many things I'd like to write about, but come the end of the day I just want to blob on the couch and admire my newly-rearranged lounge. Small things. One thing I don't want to forget about though is that I've been very fortunate be be featured in the UK Cross-stitcher. How nice of Liz! Another very talented designer ...

Ruby in the Dust: 2014

http://rubyinthedustdolls.blogspot.com/2014/01/2014.html

Friday, January 17, 2014. Happy new year to you! We've had a very relaxing holiday so far, which has included a camping trip, a total house rearrange (still very much in progress) and lots of reading, Minecraft and trampoline time. The last two have been mostly enjoyed by the boys while Mamma got more reading time. I want to share a photo of our amazing camping spot on the Tutukaka coast; a magical place called Horseshoe Bay. I'm such a sucker for that Instagram! Ruby in the Dust. Ruby in the Dust. Simpl...

Ruby in the Dust: Auckland Art and Craft Fair

http://rubyinthedustdolls.blogspot.com/2013/11/auckland-art-and-craft-fair.html

Thursday, November 28, 2013. Auckland Art and Craft Fair. It's time for the wonderful Auckland Art and Craft Fair. Again this Saturday and I've been so busy getting ready for it that I've forgotten to blog about it! The kits come with a heavy kraft card and envelope, plus a punched card to embroider, a needle and thread. Have a look over on Etsy. For more information and to see the range. I'm so happy with these geometric cards and I hope shoppers will be too. I'll be sure to post photos of the fair on S...

Little Bird Designs: NEW CREATIONS!

http://littlebird-designs.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-creations.html

Sunday, April 25, 2010. Ottavio is a very nervous little guy, with wide eyes trying to watch everyone at once. He needs some little octo friends to keep him company and listen to his worries! He's my very first little Octopus. I intend to make a whole range of them and then try to make a baby mobile out of them too. The only downside is just how long it takes to make each one! I'd like to try and experiment with different sizes too, I think a large one would look quite cool! Ruby in the Dust. Ooh, I love...

Our trees are being axed on Tuesday. And replaced with low-growing magnolias. Henry was quite philosophical…and accepted that was one letter-writing campaign he was never going to win. And magnolias, well they’ll look really pretty in the spring. May 29, 2013 · 10:38 pm. It’s widely admired wherever it goes. And then very sensibl...

My birthday came and went earlier this month. A year older, I'm on the verge of the big three-zero, eeek! Will be purposely keeping birthdays hush hush from now. Ha! I'm sure it isn't as devastating as it sounds (apologies to any wonderful thirty year old readers.) I'm kinda succeeding at keeping the wrinkles at bay so I don't I'm doing too badly. No one would believe it. Right? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hello and welcome . I am a twenty something girl who enjoys to eat sweet treats and do crafty things.

Do you sometimes feel like you need another weekend to get over the weekend just been? This weekend was sort of a write off. I stayed out till 3.30am on a girls night out and didn't quite recover from it. Yep. Getting older. Oh, and I went to karaoke at the R.S.A the next night too. Ha! Wow, talk about party animal. Pretty fantastic I say. I totally missed this last year at the International Film Festival. Fortunately, we were able to catch it on Sunday as part of the World Cinema Showcase 2011.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Where does the time go? I have finally finished writing my reports, they've been given the nod by the powers that be and it feels like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. only to be replaced with the organisation of the Christmas market! Which I actually love doing, so it's not so bad! The November Crafternoon-Tea has been and gone and even though it was quieter than the first one, I still think it was a great a success! You can see why they call it the silly season!

Ruby In The Dust / thoughts on family, life, politics and comedy. There’s more to life…. Posted on Sunday, April 18, 2010. All family stories should be read in the humor they are written with…. Some things you don’t want to hear when you are almost 30, female and single…. Dad: Here do you want this? Me: I don’t even know what that is…. Dad: It’s a hand held drill…these are the bits, this is the charger…you can have it…. Me: Hi Grandma, how are you feeling? Grandma: I’m fine, how are you? Uncle: Well, tha...

August 4, 2012. 2011 was a disappointing year for peppers here. Oh sure we enjoyed the 4 peppers we got but with over 20 plants, you can see the year wasn't a pepper success. 2012 has been spectacular. We are growing 2 varieties. We are freezing some and I get to eat peppers daily. Yum! Are a wonderful treat sauteed and topped with a hint of coarse sea salt. August 28, 2011. Take some, we've got plenty. The raspberries did quite well (and are delicious. We also have a good supply of potatoes, zucchini.

Ruby in the kitchen. Sunday, August 5, 2012. Peanut butter banana goodness. Although I try to stick mainly to "whole foods", I like to have baked goods now and then. I have found all kinds of gluten-free substitutes that I really enjoy. Unfortunately, a $6 loaf of bread isn't often in the budget. I am in search of a bread recipe as good as the high priced store bought ones. So far I haven't found the perfect one but I keep trying. I gave this recipe a try recently and it is good- Paleo Bread.
