February | 2013 | Roughly~Antipodal
https://roughlyantipodal.wordpress.com/2013/02
An-ti-pe-del/ Situated on the opposite side of the Earth. Archive for the month “February, 2013”. It’s starting to feel bizarre documenting my daily life…. Heyo from the wet season! But with a more liberal usage of the words ‘gnarly’ and ‘dope’) Despite the omnipresent dampness, the kids were amazingly enthusiastic and, I hope, had a lovely time. More ridiculously infuriating is that several of these nincompoops got to see our resident female clouded leopard in the flesh! Chicken guts (bait) and the unco...

An-ti-pe-del/ Situated on the opposite side of the Earth. Flashback I: Invasion, hot water bottles, and dinosaur socks. You know that one time, when I apologized for my one-month hiatus? Absolute as in, Wait, Kate Middleton was pregnant? So to cover the past *grumblefivecough* months, I’ll be starting from March and working my way slowly to the present. Fire up the flux capacitor and let’s get cracking. Prior to all that pomp, circumstance, and inebriation, on March 1. So 6 hours before the flight took o...

An-ti-pe-del/ Situated on the opposite side of the Earth. Sukau Post III: Mallotus, Oreos, and Pepto Bismol. These women were indeed inspirational, living in the field for 20 days each month away from husbands and children to conduct backbreaking labor under the unforgiving Bornean sun. So we decided to throw in a helpful orang putih hand and I am now the proud mama of a young. Ok, let’s carry on and how about with an explosion? After such intense detail-oriented work, papa Ralf decided it was time we we...

An-ti-pe-del/ Situated on the opposite side of the Earth. Flashback II: Spontaneous deliveries, move in, pachyderms and more dinosaurs. Continuing along on this whirlwind rollercoaster through the past, as of now, we have captured and processed 12 civets in total: 2 common palm civets and 10 malay civets. Woobah! It’s all still preliminary data, so no collars yet, but stay tuned. Continuing along on our recap of animal visitors these past few months, our most noteable guests were the local elephants!

This Man's Path. One man's journey through life. San Diego is German for…. Frist Grand Prix →. May 24, 2015. As usual I am pretty bad at updating regularly so here are the last few months of living in the Valley. Since the last update quite a few things have happened, as it always seems. Allison and I decided to go our separate ways, sort of without warning. It died not with a scream but with a whimper. But here’s leading up to that and the month after! Glen Canyon National Monument. No worries🙂 I just ...

Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes) seen while herping. Brian and I went out to Flagstaff for the Khans of Tarkir MTG two-headed giant prerelease and we came in 2nd place. It was a pretty fun event but to be honest it would have been organized a lot better. Either way we got a few packs for prizes (about a 3rd of what we would have gotten anywhere else). My eyes...

365 days of seeing through my eyes. November 28, 2014. Portraits with the Fuji X-Pro1 – Reflections on the X Series. Collected here are portraits I have taken with my beloved Fuji X-Pro1, not loads but enough to have a look at what I have created with my X-Series camera. This has nothing at all to do with the Fuji X-Pro1 but everything to do with me and where I am with what I am doing. July 10, 2015. I hope my house is the house that all my children’s friends want to crash after school. “things always smell nice and she cooks for us! Rdquo; I hope when wrinkles and gray hair find me I’m still adventuring and taking every moment for what it is- a gift. I hope for evenings spent on porches with both good conversation and silence. I hope for spontaneous slow dances in the kitchen and plants all over the house, blooming the way our love for one another will. Hope for the future. Photos tak...

An-ti-pe-del/ Situated on the opposite side of the Earth. In the Spirit…. So, in light of the season and despite the standard ninety-degree days we’re having here confusing the bejeezus out of my seasonality-standardized psyche, I’m countering my last posting and musing upon the things I am thankful for:. 1 INTERNET BACK AT THE CENTRE! And therefore the ability to BLOG AGAIN! Cue fanfare, jigs and gyrations*. During my Internet blackout, we have caught 5 civets and GPS collared three! Incredibly kooky pa...

The subjects of purity, modesty, and beauty changed dramatically when I became a mother. Every woman is somebody's daughter. Every person is an image of God.
