And, the accusatory / generalizing tone when people use the definite article before the nationality the English are., the Lebanese are. though I sometime fall into this trap I am consciously trying to avoid it! For me I learnt, among other things:. Not everyone with a role in language teaching speaks 'TEFL', some speak pedagogy or applied linguistic...

http://ara-bic-pen.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Stories of a learning teacher. Thursday, June 30, 2011. My TEFL existential Identity crisis. Over recent weeks there has been a thread picked up on by David Dogson, Isil Boy and my other colleagues at the University of Manchester, that of having a ten years in ELT crisis. This is not a new phenomenon, and has been reported, though I can't find the reference right now, (help please! http://ara-bic-pen.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Stories of a learning teacher. Monday, April 25, 2011. I am the secret camera in this classroom. The more I dwell on it, the more I see my position as ethically dubious. However, ahem, if I were a legitimate student-observer, or just an observer, how would I behave? What would I be expected to do? What should I say. What should I do? Elicit things that I felt were bad or didn't like? It seems to be the sanctioned approach to elicit, to get the observed to speak for themselves, to encourage the post-lesso...
