Seattle to Tierra del Fuego by bicycle. January 14th, 2008. I was fortunate to be able to stay with and get to know a family friend and her roommate in Long Beach. It’s always nice to stay indoors, especially when you don’t have to pay the typical $70.00/night for an “affordable” SoCal hotel. Thanks again Sylvia and Jade for the hospitality and the scenic Long Beach tour! 8220;Oh, we really need to have you pay cash.”. 8220;Um, OK, that’s fine I guess.”. A used crack pipe. Slept inside my sleeping bag li...

Seattle to Tierra del Fuego by bicycle. Q: Ok, what are you doing exactly? A: I’m taking some time off to travel on my Bicycle. I’m going to try to ride to Tierra Del Fuego, the southern tip of South America. Q: How far is that and how long will it take? A: 12,000 miles roughly. I think it will take a least one year, possibly more depending on how much lounging I do on the way down. Q: Isn’t that dangerous? Q: Ok, I understand what you are doing, but why are you doing it? Q: When are you coming back?

Seattle to Tierra del Fuego by bicycle. January 19th, 2008. Eric and Joel left from their home of Sonoma a couple weeks ago. They had been kicking out 80 mile days to stay on schedule, they only have about a month before they have to go back to work. And I thought my 65 mile day was tough, sheesh. You can read about our visit on John’s Blog. 2 Responses to “Viva Mexico”. January 21st, 2008 at 11:40 pm. February 1st, 2008 at 4:09 pm. Seattle to Tierra del Fuego by bicycle. Big Sur and SoCal. January 3rd, 2008. Another highlight so far was the riding around Big Sur. This area provided spectacular views, hair-raising descents, some of the strongest winds so far (hard to believe, I know), and some great sunny days. The terrain on this stretch is up and down, more guardrails than Oregon but the same precipitous drops, and many many more RV’s than I’ve encountered so far. You must be logged in. To post a comment. Bicyclandes: October 2008

http://bicyclandes.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

One morning, the blinding glare of the glaciated peaks spoke to us in tantalizing tongues, beckoning us to place where its whispers might be heard. The Bakers, a family with altruistic intentions of spreading love osmotically, proposed a potato planting outing that would unsuspectingly include a game of Lightning Tag. Had we known, we may not have signed up. Posted by Brent Sturlaugson. The Lone Road, Peru. Sedation. Cattle, on the other hand, are as empty as their eyes appear. The following day presente...

Bicyclandes: Plowed, Argentina

http://bicyclandes.blogspot.com/2009/05/plowed-argentina.html

When the snowplow broke down, so did I. Its vice was a fallen tree. Soon, the survivalist in me kicked in. Laughing wasn´t going to build a roof over. My head, and camping was out of the question, given the compounded cold induced by the treacherous pattern of a hovering phase change. But with nothing open in the off-season, where was I supposed to find shelter in the middle of a national park? Fresh footsteps leading through a gate left slightly ajar was my ticket. Key pieces of gear have been left along the route in a Hansel-. Immediately upon entering, soon to be overpowered by the fumes emitted by our stench-incubating sleeping bags. If the weather outside requires our shoes to be inside, mine serve as the topnote to this active concoction. Posted by Brent Sturlaugson. On the map, the Panamericana wiggles its way south in a uniform orange line that show. A similarly odd relationship occurs when getting progressively rural, one. Pockets, they cower like kittens.

Bicyclandes: Aquatic Bodies, Argentina

http://bicyclandes.blogspot.com/2009/05/aquatic-bodies-argentina.html

Aquatic Bodies, Argentina. Airbound aggregate that normally limited visibility in the early. Still liquid, the lakes hovered on the brink of freezing. These aquatic bodies glowed cerulean in the acutely angular light - sparkling irises of pristine composition backdropped by brilliant white summits and. Vibrant fall foliage. In between the imperceptible gusts that softly rustled the canopy, the scene became doubly magnificent in the undisturbed surfaces. Strength, despite the cold. Expressions of awe ...
