GMS students are concerned with two kinds of mathematics requirements—the CSU Entry Level Mathematics Exam (the ELM) and one of several SDSU Mathematics Placement Exams. Passing the ELM or any SDSU Math Placement Exam does NOT affect GMS class grades in any way; GMS grades are based solely on class participation, midterm scores, and final exam scores. The CSU ELM requirement may be satisfied by passing the ELM exam or by receiving credit in GMS 91.
