During its heyday, Resthaven Resort's guests arrived by train to swim, fish, relax and walk in the woods, many with a trunkload of clothes to last the full summer season. Meals were served family-style, and guests dressed for dinner. Many of Resthaven's visitors were from Chicago and Milwaukee, though they came from outside the Midwest also. AZ (1), TN (1). In 1948 Rilla and John's daughter Alice and her husband Phil purchased Resthaven from her parents. Alice. Had a wonderful flair for hospitality, for cooking, and for people.
