This past summer (2014) I had the great opportunity to be in Israel for almost one month as a volunteer with Sar-El! Operation Protective Edge started just after I arrived, and although I was based most of the time near the Sea of Galilee where there was no ongoing rocket threat, I did spend three weekends in Tel Aviv where there was a very real rocket threat. Every good minister should have Psalm 119. In 1996 (at age 26), I was really challenged by the above quote. So much that I spent the next. Year of my life digging into and memorizing the vast treasures awaiting in Psalm 119. To help really get this longest chapter in the Bible into my spirit, I composed songs. For each it’s 22 sections, focusing on 1-2 sections a month. It was a real labor of love! Finally, after 12 months I could actually quote the entire psalm and echo with the Psalmist.
