littlebrownbadger: April 2010

Friday, April 23, 2010. And the little critters who left me alone enough for a few minutes each night to let me finally finish it. PH. And I have often lamented the sorry state of women's handbags. There are too many rhinestones, studs, gold latches, useless. Decorative pockets, extra handles and patent leather parts for me to feel comfortable with. I don't want my purse looking like a cheap hooker. Not even with my new hair, it still is not me. When I went to school for ceramics I would have called this...

Wednesday, May 19, 2010. It was raining cats and dogs yesterday so I let the girls rot their little brains a bit and watch a movie. While they turned into mini couch potatoes, I came up with a new bag. It's the biggest bag yet and is verging on luggage. I reinforced everything with heavy interfacing and quilted it. So it will hold everything and keep it all safe. It has an interior zipper pocket and two deep leather pockets on the front. For the actual closure. I fought against Velcro. Foul, I know.

Thursday, July 30, 2009. Friday, July 17, 2009. I found a pattern a while back when Fabricland. Was having a sale for a cape. I know, capes can be a bit dicey, but I do love a bit of costume-y glory in an outfit so I went ahead and bought the pattern. The idea was always to make a short cape rather than the floor length ones pictured on the pattern but then I decided it would be great to take some of the wall-paper felting techniques that Jessica. Fritz and Liesel come to town. Thursday, July 16, 2009.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Nothing Like a Time Crunch. Nothing like a time crunch to make you try a new medium. My friend surprised us all by giving birth to a sweet baby boy three weeks early. Needless to say my powers of organization do not stretch quite this far. I had bought an organic cotton sleeper and a stuffy bunny (which Arlo. Was quite upset to have to wrap and part with) but had not had a chance to pick up a card. And thank goodness for that. The down side is that my sewing machine is packing it i...

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I myself was a cat when I was a little girl. I remember eating Special K out of bowls on the floor with a little girl down the street from me when I was 4 or 5. Yet it came as a bit of a surprise to me the other day when both Eden and Arlo demanded to have cat faces and to eat dishes of cereal and milk off the floor while meowing fiercely. Fiercely. More Tea Towel Totes. I made some tote bags out of thrifted. Tea towels with maps of your visit. Sad. Who can say for sure? These ...

Friday, June 19, 2009. Oooh baby, it's time to carb-load! We are having this again. Thanks to my auntie and uncle for the flour mill they got us when we got married. Thanks to my in-laws for growing organic spelt for us to grind into flour. Thanks to our egg man, John, and his perky lady hens for laying such nice eggs. Thanks to the girls for getting flour everywhere and enthusiastically cranking out the spelt-ghetti. Friday, June 12, 2009. The latest pins and hair clips. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. I have...

Friday, August 7, 2009. Monsters for the Boys. It didn't seem fair to only make dollies. For the girls we know so I invented some monsters for the little boys we love. These two are slated for a couple of special little boys we will see when we go camping next week. My dad though monsters should not have hearts on them but I found it physically impossible. To leave them off. Oh, and dads, just so you know, these are not dolls, they are ACTION FIGURES. This is actually the third dress I have made from this.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Here's the other reason I haven't been posting much lately. This quilt is for Boss Hog's dad. I started it last fall intending it to be a birthday gift and now it is three months too late or nine months too early. Either way, we are lucky because Grandpa N is VERY easy going and will no doubt be very gracious regardless of my lousy timing. The top photo is Arlo. Eden on the other hand, is always up for pretend sleeping. It's one of her favourite activities. Arlo. I was hopin...
