I write to be rid of things.: We learned today. (We've come to Norway, part 2)

I write to be rid of things. Sunday, October 14, 2012. We learned today. (We've come to Norway, part 2). This was our second Norwegian worship service - last night we attended a youth service and this morning was a for-everyone service. It was nice, and we're getting much better at pronouncing Norwegian words because of their praise songs. During the sermons, we get headphones so that we can listen to a translator. Fun fact. We also saw lots of beautifully made wooden things, like this piano. After all t...

I write to be rid of things.: The Northest (We've Come to Norway, part 6)

I write to be rid of things. Thursday, October 18, 2012. The Northest (We've Come to Norway, part 6). We have a treat for you today: panoramas and a video. What? I know. The panoramas show up kind of wonky here, but if you click on them, it should be better. This morning, we awoke in Harstad. It was beautiful. We ate a lovely hotel breakfast (as usual) and hit the road. It was also cold. There was window-scraping involved. We drove and drove. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

I write to be rid of things.: January 2012
http://iwritetoberidofthings.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
I write to be rid of things. Tuesday, January 10, 2012. I'm a rather intuitive person, which is convenient, but also gets me into trouble. Another, connected part of this funny personality of mine is that I desire very deeply to know myself - what's good for me, what's not, what I need and what I don't. Combine this with my intuition, and it appears that I have been blessed with a very strong and reliable internal compass, except, of course, when I'm wrong. I like it, though - the complexity. It's li...

I write to be rid of things.: We've come to Norway
http://iwritetoberidofthings.blogspot.com/2012/10/weve-come-to-norway.html
I write to be rid of things. Saturday, October 13, 2012. We've come to Norway. As a way of recording and remembering this, our trip to Norway in October of 2012, I will attempt to post here every day and include photos that Alaina has taken. Our second flight was only a couple of hours - London to Oslo. Each of us slept a bit more, thought probably not a full hour. When we arrived in Oslo, it was after 1pm. At customs, the guard asked what I was doing in Norway and I shrugged and looked back ...Our lovel...

I write to be rid of things.: October 2011

I write to be rid of things. Monday, October 31, 2011. I'm stepping in love with you. I like analogies. If you've read a bit of what I write here, you may already know that. The world is so vast and beautiful and interconnected, that I can't help but think of a thousand existing things while trying to describe one new thought. They help me understand things I've never experienced. Experience is the best teacher, yes, but an apt analogy is like a good study partner. S synchroblogging game. Click here.

I write to be rid of things.: March 2012
http://iwritetoberidofthings.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
I write to be rid of things. Tuesday, March 6, 2012. How will it end? I've not been a good synchroblogger lately. You may have noticed. I just sat and reflected on why that might be. I'm in kind of a strange place in life, yes. My work is no longer confined be the hours of 9:00 and 5:00, yes. But, I don't think a changed schedule is it. I'm learning a lot - about myself and about the community I live in. One would think that this would be great fodder for blog posts. I think that it will. This post was w...

I write to be rid of things.: September 2012
http://iwritetoberidofthings.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
I write to be rid of things. Tuesday, September 4, 2012. I do not like retail. I was 19 and I needed a job. I had transferred from a state school in Florida to a private school in East Tennessee and I very much needed a job. With my years of work experience under my belt, I hit the Johnson City Mall. I filled out applications and handed them to cashiers who could only tell me that they were "always accepting applications." I hate that. It basically means "waste your time, if you want to.". Interesting...

I write to be rid of things.: April 2012
http://iwritetoberidofthings.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
I write to be rid of things. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. It's an unfortunate situation, really. When I was 11, I moved. Things were pretty good. As a somewhat pudgy middle child of a Christian family with 5 children, this created problems for me. I could not buy they clothes that everyone else had, and even if I could have, they wouldn't have looked the same on me. I wasn't allowed to date or go to the rollerskating rink. I didn't know how to talk that way or interact with boys that way. At Thanksgiving, my...
