Notes from the Field. ATom 2016: World Survey of the Atmosphere: Going Back in Time. August 19th, 2016 by Roísín Commane. As the DC-8 flies around the world for the ATom project, we are crossing many time zones and occasionally loosing and gaining days! So we explored Aoraki/Mt. Cook National Park for a few hours. Snow blowing from the mountains onto the glacier in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand. Credit: Róisín Commane. But at least the flight from New Zealand was worth all the effort!

Added Eye-Dome-Lighting (EDL) which allows to illuminate point clouds without normals. Spacing (-s) and octree depth(-l) do not have to be specified anymore. All points are now converted if depth is not specified. Supports point clouds with normals from ply files. A lot of other improvements. Thanks a lot to rapidlasso. For the funding of this release! Support for Arena4d Point Server.

Back to the Future (again). Wed 28 May 2014. And I have been recently developing a new JavaScript point cloud visualization client called plasio. Its goal is quite simple - to provide a simple 3D visualization environment for point cloud data in a web browser. Is an application of arithmetic encoding. And Kinect-style sensors like Occipital. Suffer as a result of being an out-of-home-language derivation. It is best if there's only one codebase. In short, these technologies allow you to compile your C/C i...

Geo In The Browser: Less IT Means This Time It’s Different. Call me a glutton for tedious text, but I enjoy end-of-year lists, predictions-for-next-year, and yes, the annual family newsletters my friends send me around the holidays. So killing time during a not-particularly-intriguing final Sunday of NFL football, I found in the latest GeoHipster post of 2015 prognostications. A couple of worthwhile nuggets. 8220;…the client side will eat more of the server side stack.”. As it happens, I saw this movie t...
