Wildlives - A Photography Exhibition
http://wildlives.beilby.com/exhibition.html
As a wildlife vet, I find myself frequently at the coalface of man’s impact on the natural world around him. As a photographer I have a deep desire to expose this impact to a wider audience - to draw attention to the collateral damage that results from our relentless expansion. Setting up a remote triggered flash in the fiberglass hospital hotboxes at the Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. 50% of all profits from this exhibition will go to Kanyana to help support the work they do.

I studied veterinary medicine in the 80s, but moved completely over to an entreprenurial life in digital media by the mid 90s. Focusing on digital video and 3D animation through most of this, I didn’t return to photography until 2004 when the first digital cameras that could challenge the quality of film began to emerge. During this photographic rebirth, I was doing volunteer work at the Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Kaz's Creatures: Adventure at Perenjori - Wildflowers & Lizards
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2011/09/adventure-at-perenjori-wildflowers.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Thursday, September 8, 2011. Adventure at Perenjori - Wildflowers and Lizards. It's amazing what can be achieved in just one weekend. My husband and I had been told this was one of the best wildflower seasons ever. So we decided to travel over 720km just to take in the breathtaking sight of wildflowers (and hopefully a fascinating creature or two) in the Perenjori. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Kaz's Creatures: Sharing butterflies
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2011/09/sharing-butterflies.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Sunday, September 25, 2011. Do you notice all the insects around you? If it wasn’t for my family bringing the creatures they notice to my attention I’d miss out on some wonderful experiences. I think I’ve correctly identified the butterfly as a Western Grass-dart. I am glad my family shares their finds with me. We live in an amazing world, with some beautiful creatures. Have you seen a similar species of butterfly living near you? Life on six legs.

Kaz's Creatures: October 2010
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Sunday, October 31, 2010. On the weekend, a typical Perth, blue sky, sunny day, we went four wheel driving with a number of friends. At one point, in the middle of the track was a large ‘sleepy Joe’, also known as a bob tail skink or blue tongue lizard. So we stopped to get it off the track before it was run over. Of course everyone came to see why we’d stopped so suddenly. Handling it gently, we checked that it hadn’t been hurt. Seeing these three ...

Kaz's Creatures: Activity for children
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2011/09/activity-for-children.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Insects are such fascinating creatures to draw and a great exercise to improve observation skills. Encourage your children to draw one of the creatures in your garden, or perhaps try it yourself. I thought I'd attempt drawing the mole cricket I photographed and wrote about earlier in the week. Not the most expert drawing, but I didn't think it was too bad for a first attempt. What do you think? Digging up Mole Crickets.

Kaz's Creatures: Slugs
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2010/10/slugs.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Thursday, October 28, 2010. Isn’t it wonderful how children have a natural fascination with the creatures in our world, even the slimy ones? My nephew, who is autistic and my daughter have always loved to find quiet nooks in the garden to relax and de-stress. They spend hours examining leaves, flowers and ‘creatures’. In amongst all the toys were slugs – lots of slugs. Instead of being upset they sat in the empty sandpit letting the slugs glide over...

Kaz's Creatures: From a chomped up garden to craftsmanship inspired by insects
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2011/08/from-chomped-up-garden-to-craftsmanship.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Friday, August 26, 2011. From a chomped up garden to craftsmanship inspired by insects. Caterpillars are chomping away on my greenery, stripping my birds nest fern and the salad rocket down to a few tattered stalks. When I picked the black/brown furry caterpillars off what remained of my garden they curled into tight balls, refusing to unfurl so I could photograph them. And, considering my equipment, an old. By Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I am not sure.

Kaz's Creatures: July 2011
http://kazscreatures.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Loving butterflies, slugs and all things creepy crawly. Saturday, July 30, 2011. It’s time to prune the palm trees and I worry about my husband balanced on the top of an extended fire ladder. It is a long, long way up. Using a pruning saw and a length of rope he cuts, pulls and coaxes bunches of berries, spent palm fronds and closed pods from the palm. The berries crash to the ground with an earth shaking thump, the pods spear aggressively into the ground. I struggle to hold all of them at the same time.
