Talula’s Garden | Penn Gastronomy
https://penngastronomy.wordpress.com/2013/04/16/talulas-garden
A community of foodies. April 16, 2013. Talula’s garden is located on Washington Square, a beautiful part of Philadelphia. It is an offshoot of Aimee Olexy’s Talula’s Table. Considered to be amongst the most difficult places to get a table at. The minute I sat down at the table and examined the menu, it reminded me of Alice Water’s Chez Panisse. Holland) with its distinct sharp flavor and the Chimay. I ordered the Crispy Pennsylvania Lamb Shoulder Confit which was accompanied with polenta and treviso wit...

A community of foodies. Village Whiskey (Daylight delights). February 11, 2013. Walking down South Street on a cold, crispy, Saturday afternoon, I have this sudden urge to eat a humongous burger with juicy meat. The problem was whether I should try Shakeshack, or go into this dark oak building named Village Whiskey. Having head of the bar before, I was intrigued to see what kind of food they served and entered the bar with caution. The bar tender was not very friendly. Click to email (Opens in new window).

http://pennappetit.blogspot.com/2013/01/sunday-brunch-at-farmicia.html
Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Sunday Brunch at FarmiCia. If I had to pick a favorite meal, brunch would win, hands down. There's something about the lazy weekend morning and the always impossible decision between sweet and savory that gives brunch an appeal neither lunch nor dinner could ever live up to- or maybe it's just the fact that this is the only time cocktails are encouraged at 11 AM. After settling down and browsing over the menu, we were informed by our server that we had arrived during "Brunch ...

Penn Appétit: Chocolate Coconut Cake
http://pennappetit.blogspot.com/2013/02/chocolate-coconut-cake.html
Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Mediocre cakes are just about the frosting. The cake itself is nothing more than an excuse to eat the frosting. I do not tolerate cakes made from box mixes, from terrible grocery store bakeries, and from anywhere else that produces cakes that may as well be frosted bread. You shouldn't either! Take a stand. Make a real cake. Rich Chocolate Cake with Coconut Filling and Ganache. Serves 10 to 12. 18 ounces good quality bittersweet chocolate, divided, chopped. 3 cups cake flour.

Penn Appétit: Devon Seafood Grill
http://pennappetit.blogspot.com/2012/11/devon-seafood-grill.html
Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Devon Seafood Grill, located in Rittenhouse Square, is known for its freshest, high-quality seafood and notable wine list. It is a semi-upscale restaurant (two dollar signs on Opentable.com) with a slightly casual atmosphere. I recommend going there during lunch, perhaps on a special day, since you can have a delicious lunch at a reasonable price. Of course, I would definitely visit Devon again! 225 S 18th St. Posted by Heejae Lim. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Pen 'n Gardener
Sunday, December 20, 2009. Merry Everything, and Happy Always. We harvested the Brussels sprouts just in time – before the big snowstorm came. And now the garden is blanketed beautifully with the promise of a white Christmas. As long as I can look at it from beside the fireplace, I can catch the correct spirit. Poor Dave passes it (on the outside) while he muscles the firewood, brings up the boxes of decorations, and carries the ashes down to the compost heap. I like my observation point better! And now ...
