Pediatric Stroke Hope

Sunday, May 1, 2011. When Gregory entered kindergarten at age 5, he could barely write the letter “G” in his name. It took the first two years of elementary school, intensive practice at home and school using a specialized writing curriculum, and hours of occupational therapy for him to consistently remember how to form the rest of the letters of the alphabet. Fast forward to the current school year and Gregory is an almost 11-year-old fifth grader who aces his weekly spelling tests! He still has to work...

Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Teddy hasn't been able to ride amusement park rides for a long time because of sensory issues, so we haven't even thought of taking a trip in an airplane because of the risk involved (maybe he wouldn't get on the plane? He might melt down when we're in the air? But when my husband asked Teddy on a whim if he'd like to take a plane ride in the little 4 seater at our local airport, Teddy surprised us both and said yes! Plan a Pediatric Stroke Awareness Event. Monday, April 26, 2010. Danny had played on a competitive football team for four years, but the time came for school ball. The program in his school is fierce, large, strong and competetive. About 60 boys tried out for 35 spots. We cheered him on, but told him there is no shame in being cut. if that happens. Team selection day came and Danny made it! He proudly wears #42 (see him in the photo? And works hard in practice. He has had to overcome sore feet and blisters becuase of his AFO. Plan a Pediatric S...

Sunday, November 21, 2010. Brooke was about 7 months old when she was diagnosed with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy. After a great pregnancy, labor and delivery, this was a huge shock to us, and left us completely off guard. Her doctor told us all of the things she would never do, like crawling, walking, playing piano. We all took it very hard. Brooke's extremely proud and grateful mom. Standing on one leg. November 21, 2010 at 12:06 PM. She is beautiful and looks like such a happy little girl! Well done Broo...

Jude; The diary of a baby and a stroke: Mothers day drama and Jude's hospice visit

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2015/05/mothers-day-drama-and-judes-hospice.html

Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Mothers day drama and Jude's hospice visit. This morning I saw an ad on Facebook from WFAA news. They were asking moms to post their mom moments and tag them at #wfaamoms. I wondered what I would post if I was going to participate. Would I post a great picture of Emily and I on some pageant excursion or one of Jude when he was little and healthy? What if I posted what some moms that are now in a different demographic actually go through? Wednesday, May 06, 2015. Bird on the street.

Jude; The diary of a baby and a stroke: A rough night and all my minutes

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-rough-night-and-all-my-minutes.html

Saturday, May 2, 2015. A rough night and all my minutes. Mike didn't stay in the living room for all of this. At first I felt like the line from. Steel Magnolias that "men are suppose to be made of steel" but I finally got it. Mike knows Jude and he knows he isn't ready to leave us yet as sick and his little body is. I wondered and panicked tonight how I would KNOW because I want all my Jude time . I want ALL my damn minutes! Mike knows. Mike gets it. It will just be.just let it be. Saturday, May 02, 2015.

Jude; The diary of a baby and a stroke: October 2014

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 30, 2014. Last night was rough. When I got home from work Jude was becoming toned out so I gave him his scheduled Valium and Baclofen and put him in his wheelchair. This controlled his pain and tone for awhile but then all hell broke loose. So I texted my work and told them I would be a bit late so I could lay down for a little bit. Luckily I have that ability. Charlotte is off tomorrow so we had to find a fill in for tomorrow. We yet again had another nurse debacle! He is still having ...

Jude; The diary of a baby and a stroke: Customer Service, Tornado's, and a fever

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2015/05/customer-service-tornados-and-fever.html

Friday, May 8, 2015. Customer Service, Tornado's, and a fever. For those who read my blog that don't know me personally I live in tornado alley. Not Oklahoma tornado alley but still tornado alley. Last night this was about 15 minutes from my house and way to close for comfort. I actually snapped this outside my house about four years ago. They can wipe out life in a second and you need to be prepared. Friday, May 08, 2015. Thats how people say hello now a days? Its easy to be on the defense all the time ...

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Dr Moser update (Ob). I saw my ob just a bit ago. I am lucky that she is very close to my office. She basically said what I have written in all my blogs that they just don't know! 1 We are dealing with the most complex organ in the body that dr's just don't know much about: yes. 2 How many cases are there where this probably wasn't ever even caught: probably many. 3 So it's reasonable to think some of these cases may have had a positive outcome: yes. 6 What was her main concern?

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Well there went the blood pressure. When I got up this morning. I saw this sweet little face. Notice his color is better and he is smiling. His cough is still pretty bad and he had oxygen issues yesterday evening, but he looks much better to me! Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Jude's sickness and an update. What's the best route? How do you properly care for your child and what medical treatment should you provide? Does this make sense? Sunday, March 29, 2015.

Jude; The diary of a baby and a stroke: February 2015

http://cjengo.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Jude's poor little toe. Since everyone knows me . you know I googled this situation. How many times have I said on this blog NOT to google? Well I need to heed my own advice. So it seems sudden burns on people that have had pulse oximeter's can be caused due to skin integrity. A lack of flow of oxygen to limbs and a breakdown of skin can cause burns and sores. sigh. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Jude's not so great day. Monday, May 11, 2015. There isn't anything really new to report on Jude. He is still fighting with a smile! He ran a fever on and off the whole weekend and his cough has gotten worse to me. However he still gives you a big bright smile if you talk to him sweetly. I just wanted to update quickly. Monday, May 11, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
