http://goatislandskiff-sacramento.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Holes in the Hull. Well, okay, maybe not "holes" in the hull although one remedial repair did involve the one intentional hole in the hull - the slot for the dagger-board. In late January of last year I was fighting against a self-imposed deadline to get the boat ready to launch by the second of February. I rushed some of the work and am now repairing the results of that hurried work. What was I thinking? Saturday, April 23, 2011. The mast is assem...

Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento: September 2010

Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento. Friday, September 3, 2010. The time has come to face reality and make some choices. I am retiring in less than four month. My plan is to leave California in early January to drive cross-country visiting friends and family along the way to Virginia. In Virginia I will pick-up a 13' Boler camper trailer and truly begin the adventure. So, the bottom line is, I will not be building the mast or the sail this month. I am, in effect, suspending work on the GIS to give me the ...

But rather than lose the weekend time I am actually working on the list of things still needed. Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Bow Repairs - Revisited. Having identified the problem, I set about to correct the errors I built into the bow. These images are self-explanatory. If there are any questions, just ask. Port Bow (after a bit of sanding):. Port side, voids, hidden behind the FG tape and fairing compound, appeared during the gross sanding - done with 80-grit disks on a ROS. More of the starboard side. Next - Fairing with epoxy, FG, and filler. Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento: December 2009
http://goatislandskiff-sacramento.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Last Saturday's enthusiasm over the assembled hull was tempered a bit by Sunday's realization that the dry-fit hull would have to be taken apart. I made excellent progress on the box boom - as described earlier. The boom needs some finishing work, but the structure is done. The seam should be cured enough tomorrow to be able to move the bottom out of the way for reassembling the hull. Thursday, December 24, 2009. How Light is Too Light? I trimm...

Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento: The Ups and Downs of Sewing a Sail
http://goatislandskiff-sacramento.blogspot.com/2011/06/dscf4588.html
Goat Island Skiff - Sacramento. Thursday, June 16, 2011. The Ups and Downs of Sewing a Sail. Sunday I overcame my trepidations and concerns about sewing machines in general and sewing a sail in particular. I began sewing the sail after much practice and worry. I was pleased with the results. After spending 2 days doing the same things and getting the same results (isn't doing the same thing and expecting different results a sign of madness? Well, once the sewing machine (operator) problems were sorted ou...
