http://www.sshay.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
This is how my brain works. Friday, May 17, 2013. Back in 2008 (I think), my mom and I started a wonderful tradition - purchasing the annual subscription package for Broadway Across America. So each year we can treat ourselves to a multitude of singing, dancing, Orpheum-fueled fun (and the pre-show dinners that come along with those nights! This past Tuesday during the Addams Family intermission, we were trying to talk back through all of the musicals we've seen so far. And this blog post was born.

This is how my brain works. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The Speed Bump Saga - pt 1. I'm assuming this will be a several-part post, so here's part 1 of what I'm naming the Speedbump Saga. Anybody stalking me should be able to figure out the street from that description alone. The Omaha City Council's website. References 402-444-5250 as the number to call, but that is apparently someone's residence. When I called, I got 'Mary's' voice-mail with the 'bling blong' sound that accompanies my parent's greeti...

Sarah's Website: Bill's Protein Pancakes
http://www.sshay.com/2013/07/bills-protein-pancakes.html
This is how my brain works. Sunday, July 21, 2013. This morning we had pancakes. I'm generally against mixing cottage cheese with anything sweet but this was very satisfying. I would link to the recipe, but as we were looking for it this morning Bill remembered that last time he made these was kind of a 'wing it' scenario. Since I'm back in meticulous macro-tracking mode, I made him measure the quantities of what he typically throws together and we came up with the following. 3/4 c liquid egg whites.

If you're trying to change your life, there's no better way to do so. That's what got me to where I'm at now, and started me on a whole new way to eat and live and I've met some amazing people on the journey. It's hands down one of the best things I've ever done. But that was nearly 4 years ago, and this is now. People are...

This is how my brain works. Thursday, February 20, 2014. Because I'm in the habit of one-upping myself. Apparently, and I've been thinking about public transit, I'll offer up the following comparison. I've been wanting to do this for a while now, so no better time than the present. Here are some way too detailed calculations about the various impacts of my commuting from home (Midtown) to work (Northwest). Skip to the table at the end if you're just looking for the conclusions. Distance: 100 miles car.

This is how my brain works. Sunday, December 15, 2013. Arlo, In Memoriam. Note, the sad bit is first. By Thanksgiving, we'd been in the new house about 2 months. And while Arlo had experienced some weight loss recently, he was the same as always. Nuzzling, chasing toys, eating treats and all the regular things. The rapid decline he experienced over the course of the last two weeks was so hard to watch and understand. Still, it hurts so much. A pet's bequeath is a loving home. Including Rainbow Bridge - a...

http://www.sshay.com/2012/04/food-rules.html
This is how my brain works. Sunday, April 15, 2012. This is the short version of Michael Pollan's Food Rules, an Eater's Manual. A neato reference book that condenses a vary array of information to a mere 112 pages. Simple, sensible, and easy to use,. So while reading the whole book is highly recommended I thought it'd be nice to have the 'rules' listed for easy reference. But seriously, buy the book if this is at all interesting, it's like $1 used. The book sets out to answer the questions:. Avoid food ...
