We visited the site with a Canadian guy, a British guy, and a Japanese girl who were all staying at the same hotel. . The river is the border with Armenia. Also, I asked about the Armenian mining activity that was clearly visible over the border, and the general consensus was that it had nothing to do with wanting to blame Turkey for not taking care of the ruins. . Thursday, August 21, 2008. Lessons in Bus Travel Part 2:. You may get dropped off by the side of the road. So Kapadokya is crazy. It's known for its wine and its strange rock formations. It's basically a cross between Napa Valley, Utah, and Mars. I kinda felt like I was on the set of Star Wars, which, I mean, I was. The Göreme Open Air Museum is a UNESCO site. Saturday, May 31, 2008. Later: "Çay var mı? 160;"Çay yok." Which basically means, "Does tea exist? 160;"Tea does not exist." So I ordered a cup of coffee instead. The lady then went off on this long string of unfamiliar Turkish words, and my look of confusion and terror resulted in me accidentally refusing a complimentary piece of Turkish delight. .
