The MARS Project (Menstruation and Reproduction Support) is an initiative designed to combat absenteeism amongst Primary school girls during their menstruation. The programme has been designed and implemented in its first year by Harshna Mistry a 2013 GSK volunteer working with Ogra Foundation. There is a significant need to provide comprehensive education and support to girls aged between 9 and 16 years. This should include provision of adequate sanitary towels. 1 The biology of the menstrual cycle.

Our accomodation is 30 sec walk from the Head Office, no excuse to be late in the morning at 8.30! The 4x4 car to travel around is just necessary to reach the remote communities. Peter, our guide and driver, whose local knowledge is invaluable for us to appreciate the communities we are supporting, was proud to show us where his family live – next to the OMBEYI community. Day 1 at OGRA. Started Monday and it’s been a very interesting couple of days. I spent yesterday reading the OGRA annual report and visiting a few of the sites affiliated with the foundation. We then went to ISMAT. The International School of Medicine and Technology. Massimo is teaching IT classes here and they may like us to teach some chem or biochem as well. ISMAT has a large variety of courses in IT and health-related subjects. Students are charged nominal or no tuition. By melody on November 17, 2009.
