The tides are increasingly big now and we need to be at the right place at the right tide. Off then to a quiet spot in a side creek 7 miles downstream to spend the night and another waterfall and waterhole today.

I wrote this poem after being on watch on our passage from Neiafu to Suva. It seems such special time to be awake, keeping an eye on things, while others are asleep. First stop was the wreck of a DC3 which ran out of fuel having missed Broome on a flight from Perth in 1942. Seventy three years later the wreck is in remarkably good condition. After a short 2-day stop in Matuku island with nice (and dangerous) hikes (to other villages and school and up a rocky mountain) and a stop in the hospital to get my wound of a falling rock fixed (the villages chief took me there) were now in Kadavu, again in peaceful, remote anchorages and one of the best diving areas. Hope you see it one day soon. Its a 1000m drop from the outside of the reef down!
