On The Fringes: February 2011

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Let's Talk Eyeball to Eyeball. Now bifocals and trifocals are a real pain in the derriere, not to mention they are big and unglamorous. as if I should worry about my "beauty". But try hiking or bicycle riding while wearing trifocals! Because of astigmatism I was not a candidate for LASIK eye surgery so I was stuck with those big "seal beams". SJHS 1961 50-Year Memories. Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. The Last Day Of Summer On The Fringes. Despite the heat and dryness, our tall yellow rose bush keeps producing. All spring and summer it has been sporting beautiful flowers. At intervals it takes a break, with no buds at all, and then surprises us again as seen in this recent taken today. Monday, September 6, 2010. Alex travels to Tennessee to meet Sunshine. Sunday, September 5, 2010.

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Monday, August 8, 2011. Susan's amazing garden just keeps on producing, in spite of the hot days we've experienced this summer. Even though it has been relatively dry we've only had to water a couple of times, using water from the dehumidifier and HVAC unit or rain water collected in buckets whenever possible. On The Fringes: California Cycling
http://thegoodnewt.blogspot.com/2012/05/california-cycling.html
Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Monday, May 28, 2012. Bicycling in California's Wine County. For the past few years Susan and I have contemplated a trip to France or Italy to bicycle through wine country. After checking prices and total costs we figured it would be smarter to cycle around the wine country north of San Francisco. Vineyards are vineyards, right? Plus, we keep our money the good old USA. Bicycle shop. Very nice equipment, indeed!

On The Fringes: November 2011

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The ultimate "before" photo. This was how it looked when the previous owners had the house. The kitchen is seemed huge to us, which was fine, but the small island needed to be put on steroids, so we had a larger one installed with a new sheet of granite on top. Fortunately the hardwoods went completely under the old island. The new island but it sticks out like a sore thumb. Before the n...

On The Fringes: March 2011

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. What is the "Three Foot Law"? Getting ready to ride at the East Lake MARTA station. I rode with several hundred other riders from the East Lake Marta station on Atlanta's east side to downtown. The nice weather brought out the old and young alike. A motorcycle police escort meant we peddled in relative safety for the leisurely five-mile trek into the city center. SJHS 1961 50-Year Memories.

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Sunday, October 31, 2010. Dressed for the start. Since we arrived early Naomi and I decided to hit the road at 9:30 instead of the 10 o'clock start time . It was still in the 40's but riding beat standing around in the cold. This meant the first two rest stops were still closed when we cruised past but we had plenty of water and snacks in our pouches. Finishing. Naomi sure looks happy! Saturday, October 23, 2010.

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Congratulations to Derek and Christy Newton. Mr and Mrs. Derek Newton. July 20, 2012. Derek and Christy pose across the street from their home after the wedding. But all was well. Magistrate David J. Cherin, a very friendly and humorous person, met us all in the hallway and first asked why we were here. "Any burglars? Then it must be a wedding," he continued. Photos of the wedding party and ...

Between the Atlanta suburbs and ex-burbs. Newt and Susan and life in Hall County, Georgia. Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Enough with the mnemonics and acronyms, already. What is mean is Bike Ride Across Georgia – Spring Tune Up. Is a quaint little city with many beautiful antebellum homes that somehow Sherman missed burning on his infamous March to the Sea. Some participants camp at Heritage Park where the bike ride begins, but we reserved comfy beds at a local hotel. It was especially smart to be indoors...
