I must admit that today was not exactly typical, but days like today do make me laugh at life in ministry and stand in wonder at the God we serve. Thursday, May 1, 2014. Thursday Three: By the Numbers. Consecutive days Nate and I saw each other. We didn't set out to see each other every day, but we got a kick out if it, and I was sad to see our streak end this week. Trips out of town I've taken while Nate's out of town. I've made a lot of progress over the years, but I don't sit still very well. Ha! I also was able to go to nearby town for some me-time, and tomorrow I will finally see in person a certain Dutch heritage festival.

But we spent the year getting to know each other, sharing the wins and the setbacks, encouraging each other, and yes, dreaming. In 2013 my dream focused on inviting others into our home and into our lives. Community is often messy and hard and inconvenient, but it's also refreshing, vital, and life-giving. Friday, April 24, 2015. Kenna was born with lots of dark hair (nearly black)! It thinned out some as she grew but she's always had a good amount of hair for her age. It has lightened up a lot since birth, and we decided it was time to trim off the ends! She did great at the salon! I thought there would be tears, but she sat right in the chair and had fun watching in the mirror and helping hold the "clips." She also thought the animal cape was pretty cool. She looks even more grown up now!

Monday, November 17, 2014. Well, here I am again after a big break in blogs. It's so hard to keep up with these days! Friday, June 5, 2015. Hard to believe 2 years have come and gone already in this little girl's lifetime. She is so full of energy, life, and joy. With another baby coming we've had to work on some transitions going from baby gear to "big girl" stuff and that seems crazy! Time really does fly by so we'll enjoy the summer with her being our focus as we know once the baby is here, that will need to be divided. Kenna is very caring and sweet, and we know she will make a great big sister. Too Blessed to Stress.

We weren't ridiculously close, but you felt like you might be when there were so many people behind you! To say the least, it was a teensy bit crowded on the Metro.
