A Great Big Blessed Mess: A Very Footsy Christmas
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2011/12/very-footsy-christmas.html
Wednesday, December 7, 2011. A Very Footsy Christmas. A couple of years ago I posted about our Thanksgiving hand turkey tradition. We have done Christmas art projects here and there, but never quite found one that I wanted to make a yearly tradition . until this year! It was so much fun painting all of the kids' feet for this, and I was shocked how well each one of them did! Without further ado, our Christmas Feet! Abby and her big ole feet:. The stinky feet of my cowboy:. Start with the oldest children ...

A Great Big Blessed Mess: Making New Family Traditions
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2009/11/making-new-family-traditions.html
Monday, November 23, 2009. Making New Family Traditions. This year we decided we would start a new tradition for Thanksgiving and make a family hand turkey. We had so much fun working on this simple craft together, and the kids got a kick out of the fact that Daddy's hand barely fit on a piece of construction paper! O) I want to laminate it so that it will last through the years, and we hope to make one each year, showing how our family has grown - both individually and with each new little addition!

A Great Big Blessed Mess: June 2010
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 10, 2010. Lazy Man's Alarm Clock. I can say with all certainty that one big path to my husband's heart runs through his stomach. The path to his brain also might detour through his stomach. And I'm pretty sure there are a couple of other parts that take that route as well. Whoever said men are complicated creatures must not have been able to cook. THE LAZY MAN'S ALARM CLOCK! Step 2. Get a pot of strong coffee brewing, and announce to husband that "Coffee is ready! Farm fresh eggs,. If all ...

A Great Big Blessed Mess: How Quickly the Mess Multiplies
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-quickly-mess-multiplies.html
Wednesday, November 16, 2011. How Quickly the Mess Multiplies. I swear the house was clean just yesterday. I swear it was. Now I can't find my own foot, much less the floor. How does it happen that quickly! Well, let's break it down and figure it out. Day 1 (morning) - Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Daniel and Samuel's new nicknames . they are into everything these days and work together as a team) and baby Josiah take naps while Mommy and the older two do school. Day 1 (lunch time) Mommy serves Things 1-4 their l...

A Great Big Blessed Mess: July 2010
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 27, 2010. I was sixteen and awkward. He was eighteen and so quiet. He wasn't the type of guy I usually noticed - so shy and reserved - but by God's grace he noticed me. A date on the lake. Late night phone calls. A first kiss under a starry fall sky. The weak knees and fluttery heart of a teenager girl head over heels in love for the first time. God has taken the man of my dreams and grown him into the man I never new could possibly exist this side of Heaven. I'm living in a constant st...

A Great Big Blessed Mess: The Old Black Sheet
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2011/11/old-black-sheet.html
Monday, November 21, 2011. The Old Black Sheet. The best traditions seem to be the ones you never really intended to start. At least that's the trend in our little clan. Take, for example, the tradition of the Old Black Sheet photos. What started innocently enough as Mama just snapping a few cute B&W photos of her first little baby, has morphed into a tradition that earns a place in Mama's day planner the very day a new baby is born. And introducing the wall's newest addition. November 21, 2011 at 5:41 PM.

A Great Big Blessed Mess: January 2010

Wednesday, January 13, 2010. A Poem to Encourage. Long time, no see! So much is going on around our blessed little mess of a house that I haven't had much time to even think about blogging! I'll be back, though; just needing to take a little time to catch up with life. To hold you over in the meantime, here is a poem I stumbled upon while rocking a teething baby and flipping through old issues of. I pray I can be this woman that not only my children need, but the world needs, as well! Mothers who pray;.

A Great Big Blessed Mess: The Great Chocolate Fiasco of 2011
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2011/11/great-chocolate-fiasco-of-2011.html
Friday, November 25, 2011. The Great Chocolate Fiasco of 2011. One of the most comedic moments in my parenting career happened just the other day. Allow me to share the laughs with you:. Ahhhh," I thought, "everyone has been fed and attended to. This is the perfect time to go get the dishes unloaded and loaded.". Wow, that is great! I think to myself. "I really need to praise them for being so good and playing nicely together where they are supposed to be! WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT? Daniel wanted to make a p...

A Great Big Blessed Mess: May 2010
http://agreatbigblessedmess.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 24, 2010. I remember being a little girl and reading. The Secret Garden,. The Secret Garden,. She was comparing her spiritual walk to a Dixie cup garden (much like she does in this. Blog post that I found tonight), and talking about how we can plant the seeds, but must let God tend to the garden. What happened next was magical, like something right out of one of those classic children's books I couldn't get enough off as a little girl! Grown up around you! There were so many plants, taller an...
