Mount St Joseph Abbey is delighted to be hosting the first Music Ministry Together summer school this week. Music Ministry Together. The programme seeks to fulfil its mission of engaging and empowering young music ministers with a particular emphasis on contemporary church music and liturgy. It is an experiential course, where the participants not only learn new music but are also introduced to various styles of Liturgy, the Eucharist, Sacraments and Catechesis. The Liturgy is the most important element in the daily life in a monastery. It consists of the Opus Dei. Or Liturgy of the Hour celebrated seven times a day in the Church, as well as the daily Eucharist and personal prayer. In his rule St Benedict devotes eleven chapters to the times and manner of celebrating the Liturgy in a monastery. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available in the church on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 2.30 to 4.00 pm. Insideat coelis animo sed corpore terris.
