Heather Adventure: January 2015
http://momrunningon.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 6, 2015. The Yurt. It is handicap accessible. I've had many people ask about our experience camping in the Yurt at Muskegon State Park. We had a wonderful time and definitely recommend it. Below is some information on our stay and some things to consider if you are planning to visit the Yurt. It's nestled amongst the trails and trees of one of my favorite places, Muskegon State Park/ Muskegon Luge and Sports Complex. Things to know if you go:. There are two sets of bunk beds. One bun...

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Good Morning, Readers! Last week was an exciting one, as far as weeks go. Certainly the talk around West Michigan has been the 4.0 earthquake centered several miles south of Galesburg. It just so happens that we were camping at Fort Custer State Park in Galesburg when the earthquake quaked(? And let me tell you, it was noticeable. For geeky information on the earthquake, check out WZZM's Bills Blog. The annual Fort Custer Stampede. This was the first race of the season for the fami...
Heather Adventure: Stepping Stones
http://momrunningon.blogspot.com/2015/04/stepping-stones.html
Friday, April 3, 2015. This is a repost. I came across this little gem cleaning up the archives—a reminder of something I needed to hear today. Read and be encouraged my friends. While taking a walk along the beach, recovering from having finished the LJ100 just days before. When I turned it over I discovered that what I thought was the fossil imprint was actually hand writing. Someone had written the message "ENDURE.". A fitting treasure for the summation of a journey that was my Lumberjack 100. Days li...
Heather Adventure: April 2015

Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Earlier this week was the first parent meeting for the GRBC. Dirt Dawgs, West Michigan's first youth development mountain bike team, headed by Danielle Musto. There has been serious anticipation for this team in the Brewer household. Sage considers Danielle her BFF and can't wait to hang out again. Meanwhile, I'm excited that we'll be able to participate in the sport together as a family. In other news, after a few months hiatus, I'm back at making homemade Sugar/Gluten/Dairy-F...
Heather Adventure: Strength Training
http://momrunningon.blogspot.com/2012/05/strength-training.html
Tuesday, May 1, 2012. OWASIPPE IS OPEN TODAY! Go buy your permit. Strength Training, basement/backyard style. There was one positive aspect that came out of my no-ride week, it gave me time to focus on strength training (which I had been severely neglecting! Ever since I signed up for an endurance mountain bike race, the one thing recommended to me more than anything has been strength training. It was told to me that I would be surprised how strenuous its going to be just to hold my head up. 8212;Single ...

Midwest Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic | Trails and Pavement
https://trailsandpavement.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/midwest-womens-mountain-bike-clinic
Midwest Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic. June 15, 2012. I spent three days this past weekend at Brown County State Park at the Midwest Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic. It was a great time for all! All in all it was a great event! We are very lucky to have Sub-9 Productions in Indiana or we wouldn’t be having such great events as this Clinic and the other great mountain bike events they host. While this little one with the sweet smile wasn’t old enough to be in one of the youth groups – this 2 year ...Last, but...
Being pro-flat pedals doesn’t mean I’m anti-clipless pedals… | Mountain Bike Training Programs

Mountain Bike Strength Training Systems. It's free, we won't share your address, and you can opt-out any time. Being pro-flat pedals doesn’t mean I’m anti-clipless pedals…. I almost have to come across as “anti-clipless” just to start dragging this debate back to center but I am really not a “flat pedal only” zealot. I realized after my article on Which Muscles are Really Used During the Pedal Stroke. I think that the are pluses and minuses to both pedal system but for too long the deck has been stacked ...

Mom on the Run
Sunday, January 9, 2011. And So Begins a New Challenge. And it is P90X. I must say, it has taken me to a new level of pain. I think I mentioned that I was thankful for whoever invented the handicapped bars in bathrooms? Or maybe it was I was thinking about having them installed in my bathroom. Whichever one it was, P90X has taken me to that place again. Not only me, but my husband Steve, as well. Due to time constraints, we didn't do the Ab X workout. Sunday, it was cardio. That did in the legs! Lately, ...

Running from Cancer - More than a Survivor!
Running from Cancer - More than a Survivor! Why am I Running from Cancer? Why am I Running from Cancer? Monday, September 1, 2014. Miles and . . . Beans - not quite in that order! The day started with my 5 mile run. I wore my new Garmin FR 15 and felt pretty happy with it. Here are my lap times from Sunday's run. As ALWAYS my first mile is the fastest. Tomorrow I have 3.5 miles on the schedule and I am going to make sure that mile 1 is NOT the fastest! Let me tell you it is. Hard, and it is. And getting ...

Mom Running on Empty
Talk, Read and SIng: First 5 California. TWELVE Danger turned TWELVE last week! I remember the first time I realized Danger could read. I will never forget that moment as long as I live! It wasn’t that it was poignant, or that he read something amazing that pulled on my heart strings, but it WAS the culmination of all of my MOM dreams in the most awkward of fashions! I just knew that HE would love books as much as I would. In working with First 5 California. And even crazier is that by age 3, your child ...

Friday, March 27, 2015. My first BIG body goal. To whom I say that is still unclear, but at least I can clear my thoughts on this space with less criticism. Life hasn't really changed much lately, other than I have started in a new salon! So exciting since its Aveda, and I've already seen a change in my production and numbers. If that doesn't make you do the happy dance I don't know what will! On Tuesday my baby, Hayden, goes to kindergarten round-up. Seriously? How can he be this old? So many things hav...
