a little nervous | mog renewed

8230;……after a cochlear implant. December 13, 2011. I’m feeling a little distracted and nervous today. Tomorrow I’m booked in for laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma. It’s a short, painless out-patient procedure to relieve the pressure in my eyes. It has a 75% chance of working and if not then there are drops that will work. So I suppose it’s no biggie but, but I guess it’s the whole idea of damage to my eyesight. How about a photo? 5 responses ». December 13, 2011 at 5:36 pm. December 13, 2011 at 6:02 pm.

8230;……after a cochlear implant. April 5, 2011. I’ve recently returned from a holiday in England, back home in Good Old Blighty. This was my first visit since cyborgdom so there were many people to impress with my new hearing. Catching up with family and friends back home is always lovely but this time it was especially lovely to be able to hear and join in just the same as everyone else. One response ». 8230;……after a cochlear implant. Testing, testing, my week as a lab rat. March 13, 2011. I’ve spent a week as a research subject for Med-El in North Carolina. Of course I should have blogged about this sooner but various events have conspired to keep me away from my blog. Better late than never. Sunnybrook told me that Med-El wanted subjects with Med-El CIs and preserved hearing to help with their research into better hearing strategies and maps. Well why not? When I was visiting I had planned to be more...

8230;……after a cochlear implant. Hearing impairment does not affect my physical enjoyment of…. August 14, 2011. This post goes out to Ontario Parks who tell me that. Good to know. Hearing impairment does not affect my physical enjoyment of the park. Beautiful isn’t it? 260 First Nations pictographs adorn the rock face. I would like to tell you what this one is off but I couldn’t make out what the tour guide was saying. I had asked her to slow down and she did for a couple of sentences. ...There are many ...

8230;……after a cochlear implant. CI success, helpful hints. Part 1. April 20, 2011. These are my thoughts on why a CI has been successful for me, by sharing them they may be helpful for others. It goes without saying that you need a good CI team especially the surgeon and audiologist. Not everyone has a choice in this but look into it, their success and failure rates. Chose a team you have confidence in. 2 responses ». May 5, 2012 at 12:38 pm. May 5, 2012 at 3:47 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are c...

Pictures, Poetry and Words. Sharing pictures, poetry and words. Laquo; Navy Blue Night. Posted April 2, 2010 by pickwords in Short Story. Once again I faced this fear that continues to haunt me in this life. Why do I have this fear of bridges? I don’t know. Maybe I don’t want to know – unless of course, it would make the fear go away. BioBabe: Where DID January go?!
http://scotsfran.blogspot.com/2010/02/where-did-january-go.html
The musings of a gal who hopes to become bionic with the aid of a Cochlear Implant. Monday, 8 February 2010. Where DID January go? I can't believe we are going into our second week of February! It HAS been a busy time here, but even so. Things seem to be going okay with the Implant - although it will never be a fast enough process for me. I am still hearing new sounds from time to time - I can make out different birds now (now I need to identify which species they are! Why have things been hectic here?

The musings of a gal who hopes to become bionic with the aid of a Cochlear Implant. Monday, 14 September 2009. Deafdude asked what my audiogram looks like.so here it is! It took a while to get it into chart format as I only had numerical data. (many thanks to a computer geek for his help! This latest audiogram shows what my hearing has been like since I took that fateful plane journey in April this year. The red line is my right ear, the blue, my left ear. Links to this post. The musings of a gal who hopes to become bionic with the aid of a Cochlear Implant. Sunday, 30 August 2009. Remember that cute pic of HER cat as a kitten in my earlier blog. This is her now - not a lot changes. (apart from the cushion and her size! Links to this post. The distraction of an adorable 6 week old kitten - not mine, alas, but one brought along by friends of ours, also helped. Here's the kitten - as yet to be named. No, its not your eyes, the pic is a bit out of focus. So why I am telling this...

The musings of a gal who hopes to become bionic with the aid of a Cochlear Implant. Sunday, 29 November 2009. The day before tomorrow. I've not had much chance to look round the huge garden yet. That's the good thing about moving house at this time of year - the garden doesn't need much attention until Spring. Anyway, better go and get some things looked out for tomorrow - D-day. Here's hoping all goes well. 2 December 2009 at 02:04. 4 December 2009 at 22:09. 6 December 2009 at 17:19. Its been a while!
BioBabe: Happy New Year!
http://scotsfran.blogspot.com/2009/12/happy-new-year.html
The musings of a gal who hopes to become bionic with the aid of a Cochlear Implant. Thursday, 31 December 2009. As I type there is only a short time before this year ends - and what a year it has been for me too. At least things now seem to be on the up. I had my 'switch on' on Tuesday - which I was already nervous about as I slipped and fell on ice 10 days ago and got a gash not one inch from the cochlear implant. Never mind my brain - I had concussion - I was more worried about the implant! Certainly w...

A deaf dude's life. I was born deaf in 1982. My blog discusses facts and my life. I plan to get stem cells in the near future and expect a 20-40db improvement in my hearing. That technology for deafness recently became available but I will wait for the pioneers to go ahead first, then I am next. Monday, February 15, 2010. Simulating a mixed hearing loss. Met an ASL interpreter. A little more stem cell news. I have discussed CIs in detail in my previous posts. And two got little(10db? To my knowlege, the ...

8230;……after a cochlear implant. December 30, 2011. Well, a little tardy in updating my last post. The eye thing was ok. Not very pleasant but tolerable. The blurb said that it wouldn’t hurt, that some patients felt a burning sensation. This patient found it painful and more like a blunt knife sensation. Next time I have to have this I’ll be prepared and it won’t be as bad. So, my post laser eye pressures were OK and now I’m waiting for a follow up appointment in January. December 13, 2011.
