Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: Remembering Gail Russell
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2012/08/remembering-gail-russell.html
Monday, August 13, 2012. I watched an old gothic spooker called The Uninvited. The other night, and was struck by Gail Russell's beauty and naturalistic performance style. Sadly, she struggled in life with alcohol addiction, and died alone at the terribly young age of 36. Imagine if Warner Bros. or MGM had done Wondy back in the earliest days of her comic appearances - who better than Miss Russell to play the Amazonian ingénue? Click for full-length view. Posted by spazmo @ 2:22 AM. Paul and John's Review.

Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: Big Trouble in Little Britain
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2008/06/big-trouble-in-little-britain.html
Monday, June 23, 2008. Big Trouble in Little Britain. When Stacie Ponder at Final Girl. Hooray, my guy won! I was finally among the political elite! As I busied myself affixing my "Food of the Gods lost. GET OVER IT" bumper stickers, however, it occured to me that the movie I thought I was voting for whilst pulling that virtual lever was actually an entirely different movie from the one rattling around in my election-addled brain. You see, Lifeforce. A team of astronauts (piloting the ill-fated shuttle "...
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: May 2005
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 16, 2005. Shucks. My DVD player froze and died yesterday. I was feeling needy and bruised and I thought an episode or two of Buffy would slay some of my personal demons. Alas, no. My dour mood actually slew my disk player. That happens a lot. When I'm in a crap mood, my car, my appliances, my computer, and my t.v. (and accessories) all respond sympathetically. When I was in my early twenties, and constantly, profoundly. I am a fan of and respectful towards complicated machinery. Disgust, horr...
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: April 2005
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Worth a thousand words. Posted by spazmo @ 9:46 PM. Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Calum Waddell is a horror geek of the nth degree. Actually, so am I. The thing is, usually horror geeks. Commentaries.they traditionally don't. Posted by spazmo @ 4:47 AM. Sunday, April 24, 2005. My best bud Damian recently bought me (among many other disks) a copy of Tobe Hooper's remake of "The Toolbox Murders". Talented young cast, impressive pedigree, and a decent budget. Talk about ruined potential.
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: January 2005
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 23, 2005. Play him out, Doc. Funny, the things you think about in the morning on the way to the bathroom. Take today - opened my eyes, stumbled ten feet and lifted the toilet lid. Jon Stewart, Johnny Stewart, Shelly Winters, Johnny Carson, Carnak the Great, yesterday's strangeness. Back to my computer and I learn that Carson is dead. What a shame. Started the day debating whether to clean out some of my bookmarks. And wondered if I was ever going to read it. By Jorge Luis Borges. But hone...
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: A Package Arrives!
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2011/02/package-arrives.html
Wednesday, February 16, 2011. About a week ago, I had a dream in which my left foot was in need of some expensive surgery only offered by an exclusive hospital in Geneva. As I couldn't afford both the procedure and. Better, my friends. Better and bloodier. It was my pre-ordered copy of. The wait is over! Many of you are familiar with the works of Stacie Ponder. Professional graphic artist and tireless authoress of Final Girl. Befitting bugsplat on Google's road camera heading to Ludlow. Ponder shows us a...
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: Suspended Desperation
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2011/02/chilled-but-not-shaken.html
Tuesday, February 22, 2011. On the other hand, is fresh from the oven. Or icebox, in this case. The set-up is basically the engine that powers every phase of the plot: three college kids become stuck on an immobile ski lift, stranded above a wolf-harried mountain, and attempt to survive with only their wits and their mitts left to them. ( Spoiler! They lose both really, really. Directed by Adam Green. Fame, and featuring a cast of young horror veterans - Emma Bell. Walking Dead), Shawn Ashmore. As a unit...
Aphorisms and Ectoplasm: Amishenanigans - Deadly Blessing Review
http://somekinda.blogspot.com/2012/08/amishenanigans-deadly-blessing-review.html
Monday, August 13, 2012. Amishenanigans - Deadly Blessing Review. Stacie at Final Girl. Has chosen Wes Craven's 1981 shocker Deadly Blessing. As her Film Club pick this month, so let's get to it. Too bad, because it's actually the shit. You've got Oscar-winners acting badly, bankable television stars acting like lunatics, and a young, cherubic Sharon Stone acting like, well, nowadays Sharon Stone. Add in a dash of gratuitous cheesecake and the stage should be set for a campy cult classic, right?
