Monday, December 5, 2011. Saying Good-Bye and Thank You to a Friend Gone Too Soon. I did not know Terrence as well as others, having only connected with him online in the past few years, and meeting with him at a few conferences. I would have liked to have gotten to know him better, because I found his passion and energy for the work that he did contagious. Dave, come here. I want to introduce you to someone. From a certain perspective, I feel somewhat cheated by Terrence's passing. We had only known...

Monday, April 18, 2011. Reflections on #Lrnchat: What Can We Learn about Learning from Star Wars? The topic of this week's #lrnchat session was. What Can We Learn About Learning from Star Wars? One of the ways I enjoy learning is by trying to find connections between two seemingly unconnected and unrelated things. I find that the process of building these connections very often opens my mind to possibilities I had not considered before. And ET. The Extra Terrestrial. Because of the length of this post, I...

A Learning Quest: May 2011

http://mattiaskareld.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 16 May 2011. What's the ROI on ROI? A few weeks ago I participated in a panel discussion arranged by the network Swedish Learning Association. The subject for the discussion was Competence Development and we who was in the panel came from two furniture dealer companies from Sweden, IKEA and Kinnarps. It was really interesting to learn from another company working in the same field. On the way home I reflected on my views on ROI and came to some conclusions. So here they are:. Whats the ROI on ROI?

ELearning Should be a Walk in the Park - or a story about my lunch hour. As you round the bend you can see that there is a stream running along the path. You look down and see a Mamma duck and her 3 teenage girls. You think to yourself:. I've never seen ducks this old still with their mom. How old are they? When will they leave? Why haven't I seen this before? Matter of p...

A place to think "out loud" and document my learning process and reflections. Nov 18, 2011. A Little Happy-Dance Moment. and a Sneak Peek. So, today I got some kudos from our VP, and I was asked to present at the review board meeting (in about a month). I'm excited, and super grateful for the compliment! So far, as I mentioned, great feedback! So, that's a good thing! Now on to finishing the development and making it as valuable as possible. But there's this other element of the positive feedback. th...

A Learning Quest: Is the future of Learning either/or?

http://mattiaskareld.blogspot.com/2011/03/is-future-of-learning-eitheror.html

Monday, 14 March 2011. Is the future of Learning either/or? Of course, I understand that sometimes people take a certain stand just to get a discussion going. I know I do that quite often. But I think the discussions sometimes becomes to much of a boxing match where one side tries to knock the other side down. I prefer discussions that are more focusing on finding a common approach that "everyone" can share, but maybe that's just me. So the questions are:. Don't I dare to take a stance? What is your view?

Misadventures In Japan

Saying Goodbye is the Hardest Part. I have only studied Japanese for 10 months, which in the grand scheme of things, amounts to little. But, I still went to Japan, because I knew that I might never get another chance. I want to thank the University of Arkansas, the Walton College of Business, and the Edwards for providing me with a scholarship that ultimately changed my life. Here is to the cherished friends we have, and the ones we have to leave behind. Thank you for reading,. More Fun with Yamakasa!

Misadventures in knitting

I can get my knitting to work. . . eventually. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Another pair of single cable socks, aka prada socks. Here are my Knitting notes. Cast on 64 stitches using the Twisted German Cast On (which is officially my new favorite cast on) with 2.75mm needles. Work in 4x4 rib for 30 rounds (I knit the top extra long so it could fold over, but didn't use a purl row, so they could be worn flat too, I like having the option of options). Heel flap, turned heel, gusset. Repeat for sock two.
