lucky eater: the stuff of legend
http://www.luckyeater.com/p/stuff-of-legends.html
The stuff of legend. Someone I used to work with that I haven't spoken to in over a year e-mailed me the other day and told me that she was telling some new friends a story I had told her about Jude cooking for me when these people stopped her and told her that they had heard this story before from someone else! He told me had it "under control," and not to worry. I write this story here because I think this about sums up why Jude is so incredible and why I am so lucky. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

lucky eater: cookbook faves
http://www.luckyeater.com/p/judes-favorite-cookbooks.html
Jude does most of his cooking from scratch without a cookbook, but he does like to study up on good technique and craft. These are his go-to staples that he goes back to again and again. lucky eater: pasta-bean-broccoli rabe soup and fresh asparagus salad
http://www.luckyeater.com/2010/04/pasta-bean-broccoli-rabe-soup-and-fresh.html
Sunday, April 25, 2010. Pasta-bean-broccoli rabe soup and fresh asparagus salad. Jude had some broccoli rabe and some asparagus from the Union Square farmer's market to use, so he made a nice spring soup-and-salad take. The soup was a variation of something he always does for us. It's chicken stock with canneloni beans (cooked from dry in water with pork bones), onions, broccoli rabe, macaroni, and bread crumbs (cooked on the stove). He boiled the asparagus and dressed lightly in dressing. Photos* from M...

lucky eater: May 2010
http://www.luckyeater.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 22, 2010. I wore Ruby in the Bjorn tonight to run out and take a bus to meet Jude for a quick dinner at Brooklyn Larder (same ownership as Franny's. Their sandwiches are amazing and we picked up some cheese, charcuterie, and homemade gelato (the almond flavor is out-of-control good) for home, too. Jude's sandwich was salami with pecorino and spicy peppers. Some house-made lemonade and sauteed spinach with my egg, bacon, and lettuce sando. Saturday, May 22, 2010. Sunday, May 9, 2010. I spent...

lucky eater: chilled sesame peanut noodles and Mexican chocolate pudding
http://www.luckyeater.com/2010/02/chilled-sesame-peanut-noodles-and.html
Monday, February 15, 2010. Chilled sesame peanut noodles and Mexican chocolate pudding. We've been eating out a lot with our guests in town, but for our last dinner together, Jude made chilled sesame peanut noodles with pickled veggies. This is one of my favorites, but I realized that I haven't had it since the night that I went into labor with Ruby (her last meal in utero) over seven months ago! Another of my pregnancy favorites: Mexican chocolate pudding made with silken tofu (you'd never know it!

lucky eater: June 2010

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Cold s'mores for hot days. It's been unbearably hot here lately, plus I've been craving treats that remind me of summer (we just made root beer floats this past weekend). So I decided to make a cold s'more! Graham crackers, dark chocolate ice cream, and marshmallow fluff = a s'more you can prepare in a tiny apartment sans-campfire! This was actually frighteningly delicious! Wednesday, June 30, 2010. lucky eater: lunch at the Flea...again
http://www.luckyeater.com/2010/05/lunch-at-fleaagain.html
Saturday, May 8, 2010. Lunch at the Flea.again. When I got home, Ruby was still asleep just long enough for me to devour this ridiculously delicious homemade candy bar from one of the stalls at the Flea. It's called "The Snacker" and is their take on a Snickers bar. So good! Saturday, May 08, 2010. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The stuff of legend. lucky eater: lucky eater
http://www.luckyeater.com/p/lucky-eater.html
Jude is incredibly good to me, and so I am the first to admit that I am incredibly lucky. Specifically, I would say that I am a lucky eater. Jude is an exceptionally good cook, he cares deeply about the way that food is grown, harvested, and prepared, and he is generous with his work. I have seen him grow so much over the years in the breadth of his knoweldge and skill, and I have been humbled by the unique role I have as an eater in our home and the lucky recipient of the gift of his delicious food.
