Notes from acl surgery and my way back in karate. Mardi 29 novembre 2011. I had read that acl surgery recovery could be painful. It is atrocious. Real hard give-me-pain-medecine-right now pain. I have now a sports brace to protect my knee and for the first time today, i'll be abe to sleep on my side (THE JOY! The rehab is done at home for now and it really hurts like hell! Training notes, experiences, thoughts and the developing syllabus. We had the end of year grading at the Shikina Arakaki dojo last night and party afterwards. I'm very happy to report it went well for all (7 juniors and 3 adults grading this time) with everyone passing their test. I received 2 kyu after managing to demonstrate Fukyukata 1&2, Pinan kata 1,3&5 and Naihanchi shodan without any major errors (I missed a kiai in one kata! So time to dust off the brown belt and get on with training.

First, need to write down what’s going in my meditation. Here’s the revelation that I got. I went back and re-read what Rinpoche wrote and finally found the paragraph that matched closely to what I was trying to grasp. Being and Non-being is basically One. Tada! The conflict inside is finally resolved. Second, my meditation is getting more like Zen which is probably very close to martial arts practitioners. I like the word ‘mokuso’ especially when it is part of the kata. 1 Nothingness and emptiness.
