A humble beginning....: November 2013

Monday, November 04, 2013. Life's Lessons from the Household Help. She disappeared for two months. And, came back unannounced. Thus, the hindsight. Denial does not last long. You will eventually do your dirty laundry. And wash the dirty dishes. You will move on. And the house would be clean again. The joy of seeing someone you least expected can be colossal. Good times and bad times don't last. Like S says, live in the moment. People lead really different lives. Each one with their own struggles....Educa...

A humble beginning....: April 2012
http://fluidicthoughts.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 21, 2012. Once upon a time there was this imp of a girl, all of 5 feet with chubby cheeks and an unfailing enthusiasm to do all things eccentric and mad. The problem with these once upon a time anecdotes are that they are really old stories. The unfailing enthusiasm for all things unreasonable is still there. So are the chubby cheeks by the way! What I can't do anymore are night outs! We called up a friend and borrowed her car. The assigned driver for the night was sober, so don't jud...

A humble beginning....: January 2014
http://fluidicthoughts.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 19, 2014. On a cold rainy day. What is it about the rain that makes a hot cup of coffee so endearing? My third steaming cup of the day and I don't think I am done yet. Oh I saw Sholay on the big screen and how much I loved it! The old world charm of these movies are unbeatable. There was a time when Ma used to say that in my times movies used to have a story. And I used to frown and say 'Ma! Don't be so old school! Everyone in the theater promptly screamed 'नहीं! Posted by Suravi Shome.

A humble beginning....: Jetlagging Through the Afternoons

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Jetlagging Through the Afternoons. Thanks to jet lag, I am sleeping for 12 hours every day! I figured you would say that some things never change. 12 hours here and 12 hours there. I just have a better excuse now. :). Yesterday, went on a business lunch to a Korean place. Went to this place called Genwa in Koreatown. Oh not to forget, I am living in Koreatown. Sounds cooler if I say Wilshire Boulevard, right? I have been warned to not venture out alone once it is dark. Last ...

Sunday, September 21, 2014. Kaddu and his adorable daughter :). Bixby Bridge - Pacific Highway. Catching up on lost time. Tidepools - San Diego. I park my cycle in my hotel room. Weird as that sounds, apparently it is the norm here. Cycles get stolen at an alarming frequency here. It was S' birthday and something special had to be done. The celebrations are pending till she lands here. This was a stopgap. Posted by Suravi Shome. Sunday, September 21, 2014. Wish you loads of fun times!

A humble beginning....: Of Rainbows, Solitude and Other Good Things
http://fluidicthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/06/of-rainbows-solitude-and-other-good.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. Of Rainbows, Solitude and Other Good Things. All people should be treated equally, irrespective of who they are or who they love - Barack Obama. With those lines and a momentous ruling, Obama created history on 26th June, 2015. Streets here in LA as well as all over the country have erupted with colors. Of joy and relief. Even Facebook is seven shades of rainbow now. It is nice to be around this kind of infectious happiness. Posted by Suravi Shome. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Of Rainbow...

Friday, November 30, 2012. God of All Things. That brief period of atheism; I remember it too. Growing up in a God fearing extremely religious family, atheism is akin to sin. I used to question everything. You know how kids are. Why is the sky blue? Why do you pray to objects with no life? Why are there different Gods? And so on. Patience is a virtue that if parents were not blessed with, I don't think children like me would have survived beyond their teens. Posted by Suravi Shome. A library with a brill...

A humble beginning....: Solitude
http://fluidicthoughts.blogspot.com/2010/12/solitude.html
Saturday, December 18, 2010. So, like I said, solitude and being alone are not synonymous. Solitude is when you're reading a good book. Looking at a beach on a sunny morning or at mountains on a chilly winter evening. You have your favourite person for company. A person with whom lack of conversation is not an awkward silence. And in this peaceful state, you close your eyes. And you smile. That's solitude. Posted by Suravi Shome. Saturday, December 18, 2010. 19 December, 2010 05:33. The world as I see it.
