SoCal Allens: April 2008
http://socalallens.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Photo journal chronicling the lives of Miles and Daisy. Friday, April 25, 2008. Welcome home to our long abandoned blog. A friend recently reminded us that our last entry in January promised more frequent updates. We must respond that "more frequent" is a relative term. Our sister blog NorCalAllens. Which follows the dreams and aspirations of our favorite niece Daphne, has not been updated since July 4, 2007 when it posted a non sequitur on liberty. On this day Maren was the center of attention. Miles al...

SoCal Allens: June 2007
http://socalallens.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Photo journal chronicling the lives of Miles and Daisy. Monday, June 25, 2007. One of the cutest shots of the past month was from yesterday when we ventured over to the southside of Santa Monica to enjoy the Summer SOULstice festival on Main Street. Miles is at Joslyn Park taking a break after his folks pushed him all over town to sample great food, listen to live bands covering music from the Summer of Love (1967), visit still-overpriced open houses, and shop. Here is what was inside. Two days later we ...

Photo journal chronicling the lives of Miles and Daisy. Sunday, April 22, 2007. Arrival of Iliana Chapa and The Adventures of Miles. The most exciting news of the last month is the arrival on April 4 of Iliana Sofia Chapa, the daughter of Jill's cousin Marcela. She made Miles look like a giant, and reminded us of life five months ago. Miles also started day care at Sony this month, which means once a week he gets to ride with his new friends through Main Street on the studio lot. Miles enjoys hanging aro...

SoCal Allens: February 2007
http://socalallens.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Photo journal chronicling the lives of Miles and Daisy. Thursday, February 22, 2007. Miles turns .25 year old today. In the decision between staying up to finish this blog tonight or working on it in the next couple days, I choose a soft pillow and the company of my family. In looking back over the past month, we are amazed at how few pictures we took, which we think has something to do with the fact that we've eased into a nice routine with Miles. Here is a shot of Miles enjoying Jill's smile and Jill e...

http://socalallens.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Photo journal chronicling the lives of Miles and Daisy. Friday, March 23, 2007. The sands of time march on. We need to start this post by sending a very special happy birthday to our niece Daphne of the NorCalAllens. It is hard to believe that a year has past since we met Dephne in Oakland on March 22, 2006, but the sands of time have spoken and they say, "Happy Birthday #1 Daphne.". This past month we ventured out quite a bit. We visited the Getty Villa in Malibu with Grandpa Pete and Abueloca Daisy.

Economic Crisis: Bailout III: O! The Complexity!
http://willy-economiccrisis.blogspot.com/2007/10/e.html
A former Fed-watcher looks at the real estate meltdown. Saturday, October 13, 2007. You just knew the fix was in when the Idiot-in-Chief and his banker made the following statements on August 31:. A federal bailout of lenders would only encourage a recurrence of the problem. It's not the government's job to bail out speculators, or those who made the decision to buy a home they knew they could never afford. - Bush. Now the shoes are dropping. The biggest bank, Citigroup, is conniving with other banks.

Economic Crisis: Bailout II: How Big A Problem?
http://willy-economiccrisis.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-big-problem.html
A former Fed-watcher looks at the real estate meltdown. Thursday, October 11, 2007. Bailout II: How Big A Problem? I think the federal government will try to bail out the mortgage lenders. Notice that I wrote try. Here's the question of the hour: Could the problem be too big for even the feds to sweep under the rug? The spreadsheets in this posting come from Calculated Risk. There are $5.8 trillion worth of dollar-denominated mortgage bonds outstanding. This is called the "implicit guarantee" behind Fred...

Economic Crisis: November 2007

A former Fed-watcher looks at the real estate meltdown. Saturday, November 10, 2007. Bailout V: The Fix Is In. My many fans might recall my posting of Sept. 9,. Crisis Basics: What Else Can The Fed Do? So, you don't remember it? Let me refresh your memory with the money quote:. Want to get freaky? And encourage them to buy busted mortgages. (If that works like, say, Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefit, they'd even forbid Freddie and Fannie from buying bad loans at a discount! What can I say?
