Heart & Mind: Finding God in All Things

http://www.mavismoon.com/2015/07/finding-god-in-all-things.html

Some thoughts and questions. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Finding God in All Things. I decided to try blogging about the podcast I heard on "On Being" with James Martin. When I first listened to it, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I saved it to my phone and have "re-listened" to it several times. Today when I listened again, I realized how much I'd forgotten, and that's when I thought I'd try writing about it. Anyway, here goes. What do you want? Where Jesus was a good boy and did what his mom told him to.

Heart & Mind: May 2015

http://www.mavismoon.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Some thoughts and questions. Sunday, May 24, 2015. I wrote a prayer for today's service, and have written a couple others. When Brad (the pastor) won't be there, the elder "on duty" does the Prayers of the People, or the "long prayer" as it has been called. Here's a link to my prayer for today. And my prayer several weeks ago. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Get an email when I post! Mavis Reads and Writes to Tell About It. San Jose Christian Reformed Church. The Moons-North to Alaska.

Heart & Mind: Judas, Peter by Luci Shaw

http://www.mavismoon.com/2015/04/judas-peter-by-luci-shaw.html

Some thoughts and questions. Friday, April 3, 2015. Judas, Peter by Luci Shaw. Because we are all. Body and blood and asking. Guilty) is it I and hearing. It would be simple for us all. But if we find grace. To cry and wait. After the voice of morning. Has crowed in our ears. To break our hearts. He will be there. To ask us each again. Do you love me? I read this poem tonight at our Good Friday service. It was a beautiful service, and it's a beautiful poem, too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Heart & Mind: Your deepest desires

http://www.mavismoon.com/2015/08/your-deepest-desires.html

Some thoughts and questions. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Thoughts on quotes from " Finding God in All Things. An episode on "On Being.". The most fundamental vocation is to become the person whom God created.Your deepest desires, the things that you're drawn to, the person you're called to be, are really God's desires for you.". Fr Martin uses a married couple as an example when talking about desire. He talks about how a married couple started out desiring one another, they were called to one another.

North to Alaska: Glacier Day Cruise

http://moonsnorthtoalaska.blogspot.com/2011/08/glacier-day-cruise.html

A fantastic trip to Alaska, August, 2011. Monday, August 8, 2011. Our day cruise to the glacier was awesome. It was gray and gloomy when we left, and it did rain a couple times while we were out but we still saw a lot. We saw lots of wildlife and scenery from the boat. It was great. Sea lions, way more otters all together than we ever have seen in Monterey, doll porpoises which I had not heard of before and who look like mini-Orcas. The big excitement was whales. First a humpback,. An Incredible Day at D...

North to Alaska: A quiet day

http://moonsnorthtoalaska.blogspot.com/2011/08/quiet-day.html

A fantastic trip to Alaska, August, 2011. Wednesday, August 3, 2011. I sat in the cafe and uploaded photos and did my blog. Once Randy got home we went to the cafe again and had their homemade berry crisp with ice cream. Delicious. Then we drove into the park again and stopped at some gift stores. For dinner we went to 229 Parks Restaurant. Just down the road. I read about it in Trip Advisor. Soon now it's off to Bedfordshire (that's my little British-ism for bed, stolen from Bridget Jones' Diary. Waitin...

North to Alaska: Beautiful Kenai Peninsula & Homer

http://moonsnorthtoalaska.blogspot.com/2011/08/beautiful-kenai-peninsula-homer.html

A fantastic trip to Alaska, August, 2011. Thursday, August 11, 2011. Beautiful Kenai Peninsula and Homer. Yesterday we left cold, rainy Valdez and took a ferry to the Kenai Peninsula. On the ferry, the weather was beautiful and it's stayed that way since. It's been sunny and gorgeous for the past two days. The ferry was fun. It was luxurious, with comfy seating, pretty art on the walls, a cafe and tons of windows for viewing the scenery. August 11, 2011 at 11:00 PM. They would make a great screen saver!

North to Alaska: An Incredible Day at Denali

http://moonsnorthtoalaska.blogspot.com/2011/08/incredible-day-at-denali.html

A fantastic trip to Alaska, August, 2011. Wednesday, August 3, 2011. An Incredible Day at Denali. We had an incredible time on a 12-hour bus ride through Denali. Still no view of Mt. McKinley but it truly did not matter. We saw so much wildlife, even the bus driver was impressed. Today's blog is going to be all about what we saw, since that's what the day was all about. Here is the big green bus we drove through Denali. Several times we saw caribou (or "cari-bou-bou-bou" as my dad would say). And here ar...

When good Americans turn sixty, they go to Paris: The Cruise

http://parisatsixty.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-cruise.html

When good Americans turn sixty, they go to Paris. 8220;When good Americans die, they go to Paris.” - Oscar Wilde. "Good" is debatable and 60 does NOT equate to dying, but we 4 American women went to Paris in the year we all turned 60. Sunday, June 19, 2016. Fortunately, we were able to move after the second day. Our ship had 2 floors (is that what they're called on a ship? Going under a bridge. One of the many bridges. Barb's and my room. We were on the bottom level, just above the water. Were on a boat!

One highlight was wine tasting at Chateauneuf du Pape "shatto noof da pop"). Our instructor/guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. I thought of Randy when I saw this. He's developed an interest in Bonsai. Doesn't the sky look like a painting?

Heart & Mind

Some thoughts and questions. Friday, March 30, 2018. Christ of Maryknoll by Robert Lentz. I read a blog. Today that spoke of "What Wondrous Love is This," so of course I've had that hymn in my head ever since. Appropriate for Good Friday, I think. The first line struck me differently today than the many other times I've sung it. I pictured the words as "What wondrous love is this, oh my soul? Me, who caused his pain? Me, who pursued him to his death? What wondrous, amazing love, indeed. Bread for the jou...
