Feature Articles by Marcy Marchello from the Temenos Newsletter. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Snow Scripted Animal Stories. Sunday, December 20, 2009. Walking along the road was painful, even though I have long lived in the presence of logging as part of the way of life in western Massachusetts. It is a difficult adjustment to make when a deeply important place is so drastically altered. If you havent been back to Temenos since last spring, youll want to brace yourself when you return. Labyrinth, when I ...

Forest Notes Features: Snow Scripted Animal Stories
http://forestnotesfeatures.blogspot.com/2009/12/snow-scripted-animal-stories.html
Feature Articles by Marcy Marchello from the Temenos Newsletter. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Snow Scripted Animal Stories. Nowhere on the mountain did I find trails of deer. I have noticed this in previous years too. They seem to stay at lower elevations on flatter terrain when the snow gets deep. There certainly were plenty of deer around in November - I heard one snorting outside Knoll one frosty night. No doubt they find refuge at Temenos during hunting season. Feature Articles by Marcy Marchello from the Temenos Newsletter. Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Walk Like A Deer, Be Thankful. When you toss a stone into the pond at Temenos, it is easy to see how ripples smoothly expand outward and, upon reaching the edge, return quietly back, overlapping the still expanding ripples. Deep in the heart of winter now, I have a memory of watching ripples reverberating around the pond in a kaleidoscopic pattern, becoming finer and more intricate with each passing moment. It is no...

Feature Articles by Marcy Marchello from the Temenos Newsletter. Monday, November 1, 2010. Song of the Hermit. 8220;The thrush alone declares the immortal wealth and rigor that is in the forest. Here is a bird in whose strains the story is told……wherever man hears it he is young, and nature is in her spring, whenever he hears it, it is a new world and a free country and the gates of heaven are not shut against him.”. How did the little hermit fly the highest? Labels: Henry David Thoreau. Needing to know ...
