Luke's Legacy

Friday, April 17, 2015. Once again, I sit here on my computer. Trying to come up with words to eulogize our son. Attempting to be eloquent when I'd really like to scream. Wanting to be positive and uplifting, when the reality sucks. Hoping not to upset anyone, but realizing that I probably will. Once again, I am at a loss. What can I say that hasn't been said a hundred times? How can I explain the unexplainable? When will the emptiness go away? Tomorrow, it will be seven years since we said "goodbye".

Luke's Legacy: April 2011

http://lukeslegacy.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 10, 2011. The pregnancy continued without a hitch. When we went for the “big” ultrasound, we found out that our baby was a girl. To say that Emily was excited to have a baby sister would be an understatement! Fast forward to 37 weeks pregnant. I went for our final ultrasound to make sure that Caroline was head down for delivery. At that time, I asked my OB to check the sex “just in case”. Lo and behold, she saw testicles. Yup, Caroline was a BOY! The signs appeared to me almost instantly&#4...

Luke's Legacy: I'm Mad

http://lukeslegacy.blogspot.com/2014/11/im-mad.html

Sunday, November 16, 2014. But I could still sense her dirty looks. Hear her whispers. When Tommy came in, I took James to wash his hands (and to remind him of the behavior that we expect from him). It just so happened, that she was sitting at a table near the restrooms. As she rolled her eyes and mouthed "I can't believe this." to her friend, I apologized. OK, it wasn't a real apology. It was a backhanded, passive-aggressive "apology". This is how the "conversation" went:. Wretched Woman: "He really.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013. I think I first heard that phrase used after Luke was born. What do you mean? What exactly does " new normal. I don't want a new normal. I just want my son home. Healthy. All I want is my " old normal. Back I want that innocence. I want all four of my children here with me. I'm sure that many of you have heard the term " new normal. That's what you hear. Tommy and I have experienced a few " new normal. They each came with their own battles, but I was able to deal with it all.

Luke's Legacy: March 2013

http://lukeslegacy.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 11, 2013. Tomorrow marks five years. Five years since you left the safety of my womb and began a fight for your life. Five years since I first laid eyes on your sweet face. Five years since I noticed that you had Daddy's nose. As I told Daddy tonight, we didn't get the chance to make many memories with you during your short life. I miss those memories. How crazy does that sound, little boy? Luke, I love you so much. Thank you for teaching me grace and for showing me what is important in...

Me and My Boys. The Adventures of the Wemyss Family. Monday, December 22, 2008. God's Plan isn't always Our Plan. The past few days haven't exactly gone as planned. And then Thursday night came. I am writing this blog from the chair in Austin's hospital room, so yes we are still here and Austin is still having trouble keeping food and liquids in his little body. He is still on the IV, so thankfully he is staying hydrated, but he has to be able to self hydrate before this adventure will be over. And last,...

http://wemyssfamily.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Me and My Boys. The Adventures of the Wemyss Family. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Charlie, Austin, and I flew into Denver where we met up with the rest of my family. Austin was an absolute angel on the first leg of our flight, which was wonderful and allowed Charlie and I to relax, read, and even snooze a little on the 2 hour flight. Thank goodness for Disney's Cars on Charlie's ipod! Every morning, Austin would wake up and the first words out of his mouth were "Cousin Madaree, play? We were definitely "tho...
