A quilt for Natalie | L Street Quilts

https://lstreetquilts.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/a-quilt-for-natalie

Quilting, Knitting, Baking. A quilt for Natalie. With Christmas so soon, I knew she had to get something extra special. A quilt was definitely in order! Her favourite colours are blue and green, so the colour scheme was easy enough to figure out. The design is a simple chevron made of scrappy half triangles, which I love the look of. The majority of the colours were scraps from other projects, supplemented with a couple of fat quarters I had on hand. December 18, 2014. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Blog at...

A quilt for baby Leo | L Street Quilts

https://lstreetquilts.wordpress.com/2014/10/31/a-quilt-for-baby-leo

Quilting, Knitting, Baking. A quilt for baby Leo. The brief was that it would be something quite modern in colour and design, and that the mum in question really loved yellow. I only had enough fabric for a yellow binding but hopefully she’ll be happy with the hints of yellow in the other fabrics. The fabrics ended up being mainly scraps (including the grey polkadot which is from an in-progress dress) but my scrap drawer doesn’t seem that depleted. October 31, 2014. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A little something something… | L Street Quilts

https://lstreetquilts.wordpress.com/2014/09/22/a-little-something-something

Quilting, Knitting, Baking. A little something something…. I particularly wanted to include some homemade bits and pieces to show her how much she means to me, and how we are all supporting her in this terrible time. This first little project for her care package is one I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I love little make-up bags and have way too many myself, so I decided to sew one for her in some bright colours and fill it with goodies to pamper herself with. I used this tutorial. Little quilts for some little superheroes | L Street Quilts

https://lstreetquilts.wordpress.com/2014/10/01/little-quilts-for-some-little-superheroes

Quilting, Knitting, Baking. Little quilts for some little superheroes. Warning: picture heavy post. I’ve mentioned in previous posts. That I’m working on a handmade care package for a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Along with bits and pieces for her, I wanted to include something for her young twin daughters. The coming months are going to be hard on all of them, so I thought they needed a special presents to bring them a moment of joy. Range by Bonnie and Camille, with the additi...

Pugs and Kisses – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/18/pugs-and-kisses

February 18, 2015. February 18, 2015. And make it into a dress. Cause I can always rock a mint, pug printed dress. It’d be a nice break from my floral addiction. And its pleats and thought ,stuff it, I can pleat whatever I like. Since I’d used the sweetheart neckline on all my previous makes and wanted this one more preppy and less sweet, I went with the straight neckline. Now remember how I said I only had a metre and a half of fabric? Finally, I wore this dress out window shopping today and every shop ...

February 2015 – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02

In the French Quarter Dress. February 21, 2015. February 21, 2015. I look for inspiration everywhere and anywhere. It can be a bit of fabric, some trims, buttons, zippers (! Personally I prefer a slightly lower neckline, as it suits my figure. Wearing things with high necks is just not flattering on me, which is unfortunate as there are loads of beautiful vintage style dress patterns available at the moment with raised necklines. Alas, it was not to be. February 19, 2015. These are all gorgeous endeavour...

Flutteryby Dress for the Sister – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/13/fluttery-by-dress-for-the-sister

Flutteryby Dress for the Sister. February 13, 2015. February 13, 2015. One of the more interesting fabrics I’ve managed to come by last year at the op-shop was a bunch of children pillowcases and sheets printed with multi-coloured butterflies. I recently joined in the frenzy and purchased the Kim Dress. 2 thoughts on “ Flutteryby Dress for the Sister. Pingback: Crabbie Apple Dress The Recycled Haberdashery. Pam @Threading My Way. Crabbie Apple Dress – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/13/crabbie-apple-dress

February 13, 2015. After the success of my Flutterby dress. I decided to take the leap and cut into my Christmas fabric. Thankfully I have a wonderful mother who loves to give fabric presents, so I ended up with 2m of this deliciousness:. I’ve already worn it out and gotten loads of comments. Interestingly, I wore it on my most recent trip to Craft Depot with a good friend and had the joy of the ladies at the cutting table recognizing the fabric! Flutteryby Dress for the Sister. Flying North for the Winter. February 15, 2015. February 16, 2015. Isn’t it so much better! I’m thinking a little jacket, tights and boots and we’ve got ourselves a great outfit. I hope that the previous sewer would be pleased with this, and wouldn’t be upset that I took apart her work. It got me thinking what will end up happening to my handmade items? I moustache you a question – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/16/i-moustache-you-a-question

I moustache you a question. February 16, 2015. February 16, 2015. Anywho, I got myself a metre and a half of this mustache drill. Initially I had visions of a gathered skirt with a wide black elastic waistband, but my ideas quickly shifted to pleating when I saw New Look 6242. Bee had bought it to use the bodice patterns in cosplay, but it was the simple pleated skirt that I took interest in. For added durability I sewed two lines of topstitching at the top and bottom of the hem facing. Fill in your deta...

Highway to Hellebores – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/17/highway-to-hellebores

February 17, 2015. Full disclosure, this fabric was originally bedding. Like, two pillowcases and a duvet cover. I used about half of it to make a Cambie Dress. But still had loads left, so offered it to Bee (the Sister). She came up with the brilliant idea to use the Kim dress bodice as a crop top, as it’s just that little bit to short for a full top. As we’re both so long in the torso, the Kim bodice is the perfect basis for a whole wardrobe of crop tops! Maybe not for me, but definitely for Bee. I...

A Thrifting Adventure – The Recycled Haberdashery

https://therecycledhaberdashery.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/a-thrifting-adventure

February 12, 2015. On the same day as we found the pirate dress of previous post. We visited about 4 different op-shops in our area. These are my most frequent haunts. Thankfully they provide a lot of variety in quite a small area, and the catchment for donations is always of a high quality. Three of them are in one street, and the fourth (and the biggest) is about a 10-minute train journey away. That works out to about $63 if I’d bought them individually at 50c each. Not a bad haul. Great blog so far!
