literacy blog: The Jewel of my Garden that Doesn’t Glisten

http://www.literacyblog2010.blogspot.com/2011/02/jewel-of-my-garden-that-doesnt-glisten.html

Tuesday, February 1, 2011. The Jewel of my Garden that Doesn’t Glisten. Why am I taking this course? I don’t have an artistic bone in my body and as classmates are responding to the question of what form their art project will take, I’m queasy querying myself. I know I don’t paint, write, draw or capture an artistic photograph. Oh God, what am I going to answer? Words spew out of my mouth – I answer with the most obvious artistic ability I have: sewing. I’m going to make a rag mat. 8220;Are you nuts?

literacy blog: Toilet Training In a Day....

http://www.literacyblog2010.blogspot.com/2011/02/toilet-training-in-day.html

Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Toilet Training In a Day. I’ve just recently found out that I’m pregnant – again! This will be number 3 and we have not yet recovered from our second daughter’s colicky start to life 18 months ago. She still sleeps less than 8 hours on any given day and has boundless energy. She’s a bright youngster with an ever growing vocabulary and an insatiable thirst for taking things apart – clothespins to cassette tapes, . Lucky for me that I got my hands on this just at the right time!

literacy blog: November 2010

Saturday, November 13, 2010. I am (October poem). I am from plump pink peonies,. Sweet strawberry rhubarb and. So much life in that backyard - I can. Close my eyes and drink in the smells! Bases familiarto the neighborhood kids. As we chose teams. We were too young to understand the riches surrounding us. I'm from the glassed-in front veranda on. Braemar Drive. Solid Kentucky-green rocking chairs. Sporting caned seats that lovingly held not only us, but Spats and Toby too. Built-in safety and security,.

Emily's Writing Blog: The Gym

http://emilythompson1.blogspot.com/p/gym.html

I walk into the gym at 4:55pm. The Body Combat class that I want to go to does not start until 5:30pm and there are already five people in line. I think to myself, I have time to get changed and then get in line. The gym has been very busy since the New Year and it is like a competition just trying to get a space in a class. Upon returning, the line is huge. I. Cannot believe this has happened. Have I lost my chance to go to the class now? There are now 25 people in line. Does that not matter? On this ev...

writing adele: The Calm Before the Storm

http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/conversation-with-nan.html

My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. The Calm Before the Storm. The quiet house sits still in the dark. For the rustling of slippers to come down the hall. For the first light to shine on a glimmer of open eyes. To open up to a new day. The floorboards creek under my feet as my tiptoes reach the sleepy corners of the walls. Myself and the house. All are asleep but me. The dog squints one eye and sighs, not bothering to join me yet. The morning shower steam.

writing adele: Winter Haiku

http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/stay-close-through-storm.html

My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. The mishmash of leaves. Burrow into street corners. Nights turn dark early. Creatures scurry seeking warmth. Snuggling soft, they wait. For winter to creep. And leave frosty morning dew. Frozen, white and calm. Trails start to appear. From gleeful strolls through nature. And fast flees for food. A cold breeze pushes. Against rosy cheeks and chins. Puffs of breath appear. Of noses and numbing ears. Comfort found in warmth.

writing adele: My 26th Birthday

http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/my-26th-birthday.html

My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. Once inside, I head straight for the elevators and push the button to take me up to the 4th floor. The smell of this place is nothing to get excited about and is definitely not where I was hoping to spend my 26th birthday. But, he is my family and we have celebrated all of my birthdays together. We can't miss this one on the fault that he slipped on the stairs. Would he look exhausted? A number 4 lights up above the doors ...

Words: Sketches of Anna: #1

http://ninaeddy.blogspot.com/2010/11/sketches-of-anna-1.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. Sketches of Anna: #1. Anna bent over her swollen right knee, her grave young face hidden behind a dark curtain of hair. Her skinny legs and feet were bare, and when she shifted the damage was visible. I tried not to look at the hundreds of tiny indentations, some reddened with blood where the grains had broken the skin’s surface. I moved from the doorway before she looked up to see me; I knew my pitying look would be unwelcome. Posted by Nina Eddy. Dave Eggers on TED.
