Knitting Nonni: April 2009
http://knittingnonni.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
And her adventures in knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and gardening. Monday, April 20, 2009. Here is another pair of "hoot-less" mittens. I followed the pattern of Give-A-Hoot mittens omitting the cabled parts. Close up of what the Finnish knitters call "Indian Thumb Gusset". I did not really care for the 34 sts width of these. A little too wide even for my wide hands. I assume when you work the cabled part it would draw in the hand for a tighter fit. I cut down the pattern to 32 sts wrist and body.
Knitting Nonni: Mitten Tutorial - Step 5
http://knittingnonni.blogspot.com/2009/07/mitten-tutorial-step-5.html
And her adventures in knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and gardening. Saturday, July 04, 2009. Mitten Tutorial - Step 5. Hope no one abandoned their mittens! After you knit your 12 thumb rows your mitten should look like the pictured below. Next Row: K3, k2tog across row 8 (12)sts,. Then knit 2tog across – 4 (6)sts. Break yarn leaving a 1 yard length, gather up thumb tip and seam up thumb. Picture below is the thumb already sewn up. Now I'll show you how I avoid a hole at the "crotch" of the thumb.

And her adventures in knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and gardening. Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Hats Off To Spring! I wanted to add a little more color work into a hat so I made this very bright hat. It has a double brim. The inside is plain stockinette stitch and the rest is fairisle. A Very Warm Hat. I used some of the fairisle charts from the Vermont Hat. And improvised toward the top of the hat. Here's a peek at the inside of the 3" stockinette brim. 64 Stitch Double Sided Hat. The patterns now exist in my Ravelry Store in PDF format. You don't have to be a member to purchase them. What you say - you have to pay for them now? Yes - a very small fee of $2.00. The proceeds will enable this senior citizen to make a little bit of money to pay for shipping charges to my favorite charities.

Monday, September 16, 2013. Saying Goodbye to the Vanity. Wow, who knew that the hardest part of a bathroom remodel was getting rid of all the stuff you just ripped out? I didn't think the bathroom was that large until we started lugging out boxes, bags, and Rubbermaid containers of tile and mortar. This is the vanity (such as it was) before. So much room now! And the best part is that now I get to brush my teeth and wash my face at the kitchen sink. What joy! Wednesday, September 04, 2013. Friday night ...
