Knitting a Life: Tour de Fleece days 1 to 3

http://knitting-a-life.blogspot.com/2011/07/tour-de-fleece-days-1-to-3.html

Exploring my family history through knitting. Tuesday, 5 July 2011. Tour de Fleece days 1 to 3. The Tour de France is an. Annual bicycle race held in France. The Tour de Fleece is an annual event on Ravelry.com where participants spin-along during the Tour de France - they spin, we spin. We join any one of the many teams - I'm in 3 for my first year - and post photos our fleece/fibre and finished yarn. Oh, and have great fun while doing it. I was engrossed in the spinning but then must have heard a littl...

Knitting a Life: Special Anniversary

http://knitting-a-life.blogspot.com/2011/08/special-anniversary.html

Exploring my family history through knitting. Thursday, 18 August 2011. Today is a very special day - it's the first Anniversary of the Blacker and Beyond group. This was our original group banner:. We're celebrating this with an Anniversary Along by challenging ourselves to take on a project - some of us knitting Liz Lovick's March of the Fibres sweater or some of the Fair Isle designs from it. This is the Ravelry link. To the pattern, or you can obtain it through the Northern Lace website. There have b...

Knitting a Life: November 2010

http://knitting-a-life.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Exploring my family history through knitting. Monday, 22 November 2010. Sheep to sweater - the beginners version. In one sense it started with an impulse buy at The Knit Studio in Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. Despite having enough fleece stacked up in pillow cases to consider insulating the house, this little plait of Shetland tops below found it's way into my bag. This image shows the label. The reason for the photo having been taken while it was draped over the spinning wheel will be explained.

Knitting a Life: March 2011

http://knitting-a-life.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Exploring my family history through knitting. Saturday, 26 March 2011. Handspinning Rare Wools DVD by Deb Robson - Not just for spinners! Little packages from America are always exciting, and the wait for the last one seemed much longer than usual since I'd pre-ordered it earlier in the year. There is a discussion thread. About it in Blacker and Beyond on Ravelry (Ravelry members only can use this link, but it is free to join Ravelry.com). To use Deb’s own closing word - MAGIC. DVD menu was fine - you ge...

Knitting a Life: Where am I now?

http://knitting-a-life.blogspot.com/2012/11/where-am-i-now.html

Exploring my family history through knitting. Saturday, 1 December 2012. Where am I now? My experience is that when I have the most interesting things to talk about, I have the least time to blog about them. That has certainly been the case since my last post. I've been rather busy (! Anyway, the important thing is that our amazing Team Woolsack managed to get every single British wool cushion to an Olympic or Paralympic athlete or team. So, in theory, I now have spare time. http://talesfromthesheepshed.blogspot.com/2012/09/caption-needed.html

Tales from the Sheep Shed. Monday, 24 September 2012. I took this picture at the Weald and Downland Museum Rare Breed Show. Tales from the Sheep Shed: New Addition to the Website

http://talesfromthesheepshed.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-addition-to-website.html

Tales from the Sheep Shed. Wednesday, 26 September 2012. New Addition to the Website. I'm pleased to announce there is a new addition to the website. My lovely web developer, Simon at Aflier.com. Has made a vague idea I had into reality. I am always interested in the life of my products after they have been sold and often customers get in touch to share pictures of what they have made. I wanted a place on the website where these imaginative and stunning projects could be displayed. Page of the website.

Tales from the Sheep Shed: August 2012

http://talesfromthesheepshed.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Tales from the Sheep Shed. Friday, 31 August 2012. Last Sunday I was sitting in the middle of the street in central Tunbridge Wells spinning, much to the curiosity of the general public. No, I hadn't gone completely mad, I was taking part in Tunbridge Wells Festival. This festival is a new event started by Stephen Mason, a local businessman and Chief Executive of Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. Profits go to a number of local charities, notably Hospice in the Weald. Is that a spinning jenny? I haven'...

Tales from the Sheep Shed: June 2012

http://talesfromthesheepshed.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Tales from the Sheep Shed. Friday, 29 June 2012. Love at First Treadle. I am in love. My new love is desirable in every way - looks great, feels great and delivers everything I could possibly want. I first encountered the object of my desire last October at the East Sussex Guild Exhibition. After several months of yearning and unfulfilled desire, we met again at Wonderwool Wales. Noticed how well we got along together and before I knew it Martin had my beloved ready for action and helped my whisk my darl...

A Sock Knitter's Diary: Finished Socks

http://catnit.blogspot.com/2013/07/finished-socks.html

Wednesday, 17 July 2013. These are the socks I made in Skopelos. I found the yarn in my bag when I got there and it seemed to be just right for knitting on the terrace. The colour. Is identical to one of the geraniums growing by the pool. The weather here in England has been fierce today, so I've alternated between cleaning the house and cooling off, finishing these socks. A Sock Knitter's Diary: Breakfast on the beach

http://catnit.blogspot.com/2013/07/breakfast-on-beach.html

Monday, 1 July 2013. Breakfast on the beach. Today we had breakfast in a taverna. On Limonari beach. There is going to be a wedding reception there this evening and girls were climbing trees to hang fairy lights. First opened there was no road to the beach, access was only by boat. We spent a couple of hours snorkelling before coming home to lounge around the pool. There is a peacock who yeehaws. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. Exploring my family history through knitting. Monday, 27 June 2016. A Call To The Leaders Of The UK. Now is the time for our elected Members of Parliament, our leaders, to step up and do the jobs they were elected to do. If that means cancelling holidays, returning to Westminster and working on implementing a Brexit you didn't want, well so be it. The economic position the UK now enjoys was won by the sacrifice of millions of citizens through a period of austerity. Our position and responsibility in ...
