Is black stump country! Dating back to 1924, Merriwagga is black stump country. A visit to the Black Stump Memorial tells the gruesome tale that gave black stump its name. The name Merriwagga is believed to have come from its being on part of ‘Merri-Merrigal Station’, near a tank know as Wagga Tank.
