Katy Trail Bike Trip. Seven Days in May on the Katy Trail. Day 8: Augusta to St. Charles. I woke up today a little sad knowing this was the last day or our ride. We had 27 miles to St. Charles and the end of our trip. Today was the Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend so we saw many riders. In fact, we probably saw ten times as many riders today as we saw all the six previous days combined. The trail continues to be green and beautiful. We had to stop and take our pics next to this big rock. June 23, 2014.

Katy Trail Bike Trip. Seven Days in May on the Katy Trail. Day 4: Rocheport to Jefferson City. Susan’s bike had a flat this morning, one of three that she had during the trip. Every flat we had was on the back tire, so that always takes a little more work to repair. Everyone on the trail that passed us asked if we needed assistance. Luckily I knew what to do. The trip wouldn’t be complete without a flat or four. We ate our lunch on a picnic table overlooking the river. We were not sure who owned this.

After flying from Phoenix to St. Louis we rented a stow-and-go minivan and drove to the Bike Stop Cafe in St. Charles to pick up our bikes. We were pleased to see that our bikes were ready to go. Seeing America at 10 miles per hour. Day 9: White’s Ferry to Georgetown, DC. Mileage: 35.5 miles plus about 3.5 miles to return bikes. Elevation Change: -203 feet. Hotel – White’s Ferry/Leesburg: Comfort Inn Suites. Hotel – Arlington, VA: Hilton. Tourist attraction of riverboat pulled by mule. We stopped briefly to look at the scenic overlook of the Great Falls and pretty much rode straight through without any other major stops, just stopping along the trail to get sips of water, reapply sunscreen etc.
