Due back at Tiff and Neil's in a week or so. . . . . Our first stop was Daytona Shores Beach. Silly us, we thought we were in Daytona! But clearly this is where the races are, where they drive on the beach and where sudden thunder and lightening, and surprise downpours occur! The view from our balcony! Not where we stayed!

Learned a new word! These "windows" in the fort walls are called, "loop holes.". Castillo De San Marcos, the Spanish Fort in St. Augustine. Construction started here in 1672. Amazing history! Everyone ran out of the surf, thinking the life guards spotted sharks! No just grandma standing on an old cement pier. Most dangerous thing to do I suppose!
