One of the duties he shared with his friend, Job Vanderkroft, was raising and lowering the flag. One officer had to raise the flag while the other would stand at attention, holding a salute. Neither of them liked the saluting part, so it became a race to see who would get there first. The winner was Jan, who hid the flag the night before. February 4, 2012.
