There are twenty-seven of them, each a study working out a specific technical problem, each just a couple of minutes long, each beautiful and inspiring and emotional. They’re incredible pieces that stretch what the piano can do and what I can do at the piano. 25/6, the thirds. It’s an exciting and humbling process.

What is this project? Play It Again Swig. One Woman, One Piano, 27 Chopin etudes. What is this project? So what is this, anyway? This is what I sound like while I’m trying to become the very best pianist and musician I can, by learning all the Chopin etudes. Every couple of weeks or so I post a full episode where I play and talk about my practice life working on the Chopin (and music for other concerts too). I’m a concert pianist and music professor. I love performing and teaching: I feel incredibly lucky that I get to do both, and that I learn so much about each from the other. Where I’ve been the piano professor since 2004. I’ve also taught a few other places, including the Hochstein Music School. Fort Lewis College, and Paraguay on a Fulbright in the summer of 2008. Along the way I've also explored training in theatre, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, the Alexander Technique, and mindfulness meditation.
