The light of a single ember...: December 2008
http://emberslight.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 26, 2008. Oh the sweet pleasures of home. I can drink from the faucet. I can flush my toilet paper. I can buy shampoo with labels in English. I can surf the 150,000 channels where nothing is on.but it's all in English! Oh the simple pleasures! Here are some of my favorite Christmas pictures. Note that the nieces are included! So far it's been a peaceful return. Now that Christmas is over though, I have been a bit sad as my heart is realizing I'm not just back in the US on vacation! First...

Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Hunting. I feel as if I've returned to the basic stage of striking rocks, beating myself and grunting, all while wearing spotted, matted, ragged furs. Your typical cave woman! All because. I'm job hunting. So what do I do? So although I'm a bit "hunt weary" today, this is a chin up email! The hunt is on! I'll keep you posted on the prey. http://emberslight.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2008. A week in the life of Ember. So what does my life look like? I get up and go to the office like a normal person, mostly! The Kids Connection department prepares for the week ahead and I have a few hours to catch up on my Kazakh studies and download emails. We spend all day at Saramoldeava orphanage. We spend an hour each with the little kids group, an girls group, and a boys group. We take fun stuff to do and keep up on their lives and needs. In Kazakhstan are also work days!

Beth in Kazakhstan: March 2008
http://bethinkz.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 4, 2008. I had the privilege of taking Ember, Kiikzhan and Moldir to the Savva orphange this past Sunday. Every month the youth department goes to celebrate birthdays from the previous month. Since half of the department is on vacation I got to be the designated driver. The added fun was that it was my birthday that day and Ember made it a point to let everyone know. On the way back to Taraz I thought a lot about these kids.in a few years what will their lives be like?

Monday, April 28, 2008. This weekend was filled with a little bit of adventure as Sara and I took a visiting adoptive couple on an excursion b. Eyond the borders of Taraz. We often get to meet people coming in to ado. Pt but they often don't get a chance to see village life and some of the most spectacular mountains along the way. As we drove into Bauerzhan Momumshuly we spotted a really cool camel grazing and had to stop to get some photos. Of course, I wasn't satisfied with. Saturday, April 26, 2008.

Beth in Kazakhstan: January 2009
http://bethinkz.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2009. Back Safely in Kazakhstan. As one can often expect, trips to Kazakhstan are usually not uneventful to say the least. I was very pleased when the check-in person for AA informed me that she could check my baggage all the way to KZ since they were partners of British Air. This also saved me about $170! Once I got back to the apartment, I plugged in my phone.worked fine. Interesting how we make our decisions.and often when looking back we realize that it was a miracle.

Adults are always asking little kids what they want to be when they grow up because they're looking for ideas. Paula Poundstone. Saule Needs a Family! Friday, November 20, 2009. Last night was the Festival of Nations at the girls' school. They had a great time! I wish I had been able to see more of the dancers. They had some from China, Africa, Hmong, and some girls from the school did a Carpathian dance. Abbie and Lauren had a wonderful time running around with their "passports" seeing and exper...Victo...
